Anonymous asked:

How often do you read about cum during your alchemical research and what percentage of the time is it literal?

Literally every alchemy research day has involved cum. It’s literal about half the time.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.

As a medical professional and a medically complicated human this is very important to me

That’s not wrong.

These are both true

Both are very very true.

These are both true, but more importantly, not mutually exclusive!

Say a patient comes in with chest pain. First time they’ve ever had chest pain. They say they googled it, and clearly they have cancer now!

…no. That’s the first example.

But say a patient has chest pain, they’ve had chest pain for 10 years, every previous doctor has checked for all the obvious causes, and nothing changes.

That’s a completely different scenario. In the first example, the patient doesn’t know what they’re talking about. The condition is new, their knowledge is limited. That’s why we have doctors. But in the second example, the patient is the expert, and the doctor is the one who’s new to the situation. The patient has done all this before, and is very familiar with the pain (condition, etc.) that they have. The doctor is not the one with 10 years of experience. They need to listen, because the patient actually has something they don’t know to add to the conversation.

These two things are not mutually exclusive, they are not the same scenario, and both doctors and patients (but mostly doctors) need to learn to tell the difference and know when to talk, and when to listen.

This is also *highly* relevant to anti-vaxers.

There is a reason that the entire section on dysthymia in my psychology textbooks is basically “this person has been living with this for years longer than you will ever have researched it. help them facilitate their own coping strategies.”

"Here, this character has every disease" is how you invite audience sympathy.

"Here, this character has every disease, yet is capable of unfathomable violence" is how you invite audience identification.

once when i was ten, so seventeen years ago, i was on one of the neopets forums that was in 2006 frequented mostly by edgy teenagers with pete wentz urls who wanted to get around the ban on romance and gay talk to discuss mcr members making out. and it was well past midnight and i was secretly on an extremely clunky laptop the size of a modern desktop, sitting on my top bunk in the tiny room i shared with my sister. and i do not remember the forum topic at all but at some point one of the participants politely asked me, "hey, how old are you, anyway? twelve?" and when i honestly replied "ten," he responded:

"WOAH. Kid, you'd better get off the boards. Wandering the Neoboards at 2 AM is like walking nekkid through the Bronx with your wallet dangling from your nipplz."

and this frightened me so much i slammed the computer shut and went to bed immediately. seventeen years later i still remember this message word for word. including the filter-avoidance misspellings. i need everyone to know about this formative childhood memory. bronx wallet nipplz guy if you're out there hmu and tell me what ur deal was

THE POWER FLICKERED THREE TIMES

IF WE LOSE POWER I’M QUITTING

JUST GIVE ME 20 FUCKIN MINUTES FOR MY CHICKEN NUGGETS TO COOK PLEASE

please

(vegan) I hope your power runs out

thats fuckin nice and all but the chicken is already in the nuggets. the power going out doesn’t save a chicken. it’s a nugget already. sorry

I love this post because they said (Vegan) like its a fallout skill check

I know I've been over this but man HRT is good stuff. I wanna shake the hand of whoever invented it. It's a crime that I don't know who that is actually. They're more important than Einstein

id also been really curious about the history of hrt so i had some tabs open:

The first hrt treatments were mostly estrogen extracted during pregnancies to be used for menopause symptoms, but the first usage of those medicines for trans women is credited to the world's first Trans Clinic, opened in pre-WW2 Germany by Magnus Hirschfield, a gay jewish man.

Oh he looks delightful

Thank you grandpa

The comparasion to Einstein was actually made at the time too! He was commonly refered to as “the Einstein of sex”, to which he supposedly once replied that he would rather Einstein be called “the Hirschfeld of physics” lmao

Oh my god

The story of the Institute of Sexology should be mandatory learning in all schools. It is arguably where the science of gender and sex were codified and became a field, featuring such hits as development of HRT, gender affirming surgeries like top surgery and bottom surgery, and understanding of gender and sex which were inclusive of gay, bisexual, asexual, trans identities, etc. Hirschfeld advocated free sex education and contraceptives, and destigmatization of LGBT identities. He coined transsexual, as a departure from transvestite, and wrote medical passes for trans people to show police who would hassle them for crissdressing.

The Institute of Sexology, was burned by the Nazi regime. It was one of the earliest targets and one of the biggest, of the book burning efforts, and the majority of photos depicting Nazi book burnings were from that one specific event. It had medical research, records, case studies. The burning of the Institute set back the entire scientific field entire decades.

sometimes your owns against homo/transphobes arent funny enough to warrant consciously reminding me that people hate me for immutable characteristics about myself

I love opening up twitter and it's just this over and over again

often middle-class leftist obsessions with the guilloutine unsettle me not because im against violence (im not) (especially not against an unjust nationstate) but rather i am against executions especially by literally any state ever. & i cant fuck with people who are like "okay but we will execute people morally this time" girl thats what you said the last 5,000 times it never works give it UP.

person with $95 guilloutine earrings telling me excitedly about how they cant wait to watch a class of people be publically executed and i just think maybe someone should tell you that your outright glee to see violence-as-spectacle especially if you are not a part of the vulnerable population is something you should be deeply ashamed of. this isnt to tone-police those who have been acute and vulnerable victims of capitalism, but those populations are all too aware of the potential consequences of politicized violent unrest, AND are the first to be harmed by those consequences in a situation such as this. your obsession with violence is not terrifying to me because i feel some need to protect jeff bezos or whatever, but rather because the fallout of your bloodlust WILL hurt victims you did not intend if you are not careful, and harm reduction should be more important to you than exacting revenge.

you should want the violence to be unnecessary

you should want it to be minimized

if you truly care about things getting better, you should not be excited for the violence
