@undertheknightwing @sarahsharpe1231 I noticed there's been a lot more Jon power talk this season than the previous two, which makes me wonder if something is gonna happen with him and he'll be a part of the cliffhanger ending.
I saw this conversation and I wanted to butt in here because YES. There is a suspiciously large amount of references to Jon not having powers and being Kryptonian this season.
In previous seasons, the most they ever talked about Jon having powers was the X-K arc and that was mainly contained to Jordan thinking Jon had powers for one episode and how Jon's relationship with Clark is terrible. And then of course, Jon-El appears which led to Jonathan's famous line of 'Maybe if I had powers you'd actually listen to me." Cough cough...but that's actually it. They never, not once, say Jonathan is Kryptonian. Ever.
But this season, hoo boy! I wrote about this several episodes ago actually, but there's been more since!
Straight away in 3x01, they contrast Jonathan learning to drive with Jordan flying, and Jonathan finally goes to the fortress reminding us he's Kryptonian.
In 3x06, they have Jonathan talking to Sophie about how he's left out in his family as they're all 'big deals' and he's not considered a big deal because he doesn't have powers. This is also the same episode where they highlight Kryptonian/human hybrids.
In 3x07, Jon goes to the fortress but this is the episode where Jon calls himself human and that he's not like Clark and Jordan. Lois even says "Jon's just scared. I think seeing me like this is a big reminder that he's not like you and Jordan" which has always confused me as to why Lois would specifically say this when he appeared to be worried for her and not for himself - it seemed odd to highlight this multiple times in the episode...and then of course, Clark says the wonderful words to Jonathan, "But I want you to remember that you are just as much Kryptonian as your brother. And he's just as human as you are."
In 3x08, we have Jordan being an asshole again and telling Jon "I have heat vision, and you're taking coffee orders!" Sarah tells Jordan that he's rubbing it in Jon's face that he has powers and Jon doesn't.
In 3x10, Kyle comes to the house believing Jonathan has powers and tries to confront him. Jon seems incredibly surprised that Kyle would even suspect him with a close-up shot of him saying "Me?" like yes you Jon - why would you be so surprised at this? And why highlight his surprise this much?
In 3x11, we have Jonathan saying this, "You know what happens to me when I'm in a really bad spot? Nothing. I'm just still in a really bad spot, and I don't get some superpower. You should consider yourself lucky." Hmm...there's really no reason for him to even say this in that conversation...plus they kind of imply that Jon is just far more chill than Jordan and powers pop up when you're NOT CHILL.
I swear, they've been making this so noticeable for so many episodes now - never before have they paid so much attention to Jonathan's powerlessness and how he's 'not like Clark and Jordan'. Not to mention the amount of time they have spent showing Jonathan is incredibly good and kind and truly Superman's son.
If they don't do something with all this set-up, then I have no idea why they have written the show like this.
