Just some stuff

@vague-humanoid

I'm 30+ & Black, he/him pronouns. Everything I post is ok to reblog. Trans Rights are Human Rights. Centrists actively make the world worse.

There is a lie coming from self-proclaed progressives who are just pushing the same respectability politics lies about the Civil rights movements Reagan pushed.

Here Jimmy Dore claims that previous gay rightsovements were universally accepted and current movements are extremely and all the bigotry is backlash against our methods.

And here Anna claims that the Black Civil Rights movement similarly saw success due to its non violent tactics

This idea that violent and forcefully resistance to oppression only undermines our efforts is being presented by people that claim to be on our side. And they'll actively distort our history to justify it.

Clarifying for everyone who doesn’t read usernames but the delayed release is just a rumor but an extremely LIKELY rumor right now. Considering how people who are working on Beyond the Spider-Verse say they’re barely in the animation testing stage.

A good movie is NOT worth unsatisfactory and mentally unstable, exhaustive, and dangerous working conditions. If you can support the artists who worked on atsv financially through commission or other means DO THAT!

I will happily wait another year or  two so that the animators aren’t worked to the bone. I want my entertainment to be produced as ethically as possible.

I want shorter movies further apart made by film makers who are paid more for less work and I'm not kidding.

UNICEF confirmed a palestinian child was killed this morning during israel’s siege on jenin. that makes them the 28th palestinian child killed by the IOF this year, with potentially more child deaths in this siege

hey netizens! i'm not sure how many people are aware, but youtube's been slowly rolling out a new anti-adblock policy that can't be bypassed with the usual software like uBlock Origin and Pi-Hole out of the gate

BUT, if you're a uBlock Origin user (or use an adblocker with a similar cosmetics modifier), you can add these commands in the uBlock dashboard (under My Filters) to get rid of it!

youtube.com##+js(set, yt.config_.openPopupConfig.supportedPopups.adBlockMessageViewModel, false) youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.adBlocksFound, 0) youtube.com##+js(set, ytplayer.config.args.raw_player_response.adPlacements, []) youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.hasAllowedInstreamAd, true)

reblog to help keep the internet less annoying and to tell corporations that try shit like this to go fuck themselves <3

me: i don’t want to see jellyfish so i will blacklist the tag #jellyfish

people with no common sense: je11yf1sh, je11¥fi5h, j*llyf*sh, je//ÿf!sh, j3ï||yf¡sh, gel lee fisk

result: cannot account for the sheer amount of possible ways to alter the word jellyfish

conclusion: i have to see jellyfish now.

Once again, tumblr is not tiktok, tag properly.

Currently sat in a summer school type thing we're hosting in work and some English architect is telling us about sustainable design in Wales, except she hasn't bothered learning a single Welsh name and if I have to listen to one more "I don't know how to say 'Welsh name' so I'm going to use 'shitty English name/nothing while laughing at it' I'm going to throw this slanty drawing desk at her head

Spot the unforced errors:

"Wales has three national parks. There's the one I can't pronounce so I'm going to say Brecon Beacons, there's Pembrokeshire Coast, and there's Snowdonia."

Said with that lil laugh English people do when they say this stuff, because they think they're being funny and charming in a 'what am I like' way rather than disrespectful and arrogant as fuck

"This one is by a reservoir in Gwent I can say, tee hee! Landy something, but-"

Me: Llandegfedd

Her: uh... yes, so difficult! Tee hee!

FUCK OFF

"This one is called... Um... I don't know how to say it tee hee!"

Me: Ysgir.

Her: I'm so bad at Welsh haha

YOU ARE DELIVERING A THREE QUARTER HOUR LECTURE TO WELSH STUDENTS IN WALES ABOUT WELSH INFRASTRUCTURE

YOU HAVE MULTIPLE WELSH SPEAKING COLLEAGUES CRAWLING OUT OF THE WOODWORK WHO COULD HAVE TOLD YOU

LEARNING TO PRONOUNCE THE PLACES SHOULD HAVE BEEN PRIORITY ONE YOU ARROGANT BITCH

Like listen. LISTEN. I know this is entirely normal. I know this is so exceptionally common that about 80% of English people do it, I know they think it's funny, I know they don't even see there's a problem, I know I'm basically kicking off at rain in a wet country. I don't know why this extremely normal and commonplace occurrence is nettling me this much today.

But last year, I gave a lecture on grassland management. As part of it, I told the students about the ngitili silvipastoral systems in Tanzania. I am in no way saying I'm perfect!!! I am not a template to be copied!!! But ahead of that lecture, I scoured YouTube until I found a video of an indigenous person in Tanzania talking about the system!!! And I listened to how they pronounced it, and I memorised it, and then I even wrote out the phonetic pronunciation on the slide so my students could learn too, because not bothering to learn that while then presenting myself as an authority on the subject would have been grossly appropriative and colonialist and also plain fucking rude.

And none of those students were Tanzanian for me to insult to their faces

Love that they put “a sense of impending doom” as one of the symptoms of a heart attack, like girl, that’s just how it is to be alive these days, you’re gonna have to be more specific

This made me chuckle but after scrolling away I felt the need to come back to it.

Because as someone who has felt this I can not stress how different it actually is from anxiety. Which is saying a lot because I have a massive anxiety disorder.

I've only felt this twice in my life - once when I was going into kidney failure due to an infection and again when my body was going into shock due to dehydration and malnourishment due to GI issues - and I can not stress how much it saved my life. It's hard to even put it into words. It's not like a panic attack, or anxiety. It is a horrific gut turning feeling of absolute dread.

Especially if you have anxiety you'll know the difference honestly. It's so much worse. It's every cell in your body and your brain screaming that there's something horribly wrong in a way you've never felt. It's your brain screaming out that you are going to die in a way no panic attack has ever done before.

I can not stress how important it is to get yourself to the ER if you feel this way. Especially if your having other physical symptoms.

This is amazing and incredibly helpful, oh my god. Thank you.

oh my god this New Yorker article about the Titan holy fucking shit fuck???

Some notes: 1. the electrical system was designed by engineering undergrads who were working as interns. 2. because it is illegal to take passengers on an unclassed experimental submersible, they called the passengers "mission specialists" & instead of buying tickets they made donations. 3. the satellite beacon was held onto the outside of the sub with zip ties. 4. when Lochridge (the whistleblower) quit, Stockton Rush asked HIS FINANCE DIRECTOR if she wanted to be the pilot and she was like "sir I am an accountant" and the experience of having her boss ask his accountant to be the pilot made her so freaked out that she ALSO quit the company 5. the carbon fiber used to make the hull was bought from a deep discount from Boeing because it was past its expiry date for use in airplanes

AND MUCH, MUCH MORE

just saw someone call my post - about how thatcher subsidising homeownership through right-to-buy, and similar policies promoting single-family housing enacted in postwar USA, were carried out with the function of turning working class union members (who expected their country to give back to them after everything they'd provided in wartime), into middle-class property owners with individual competition and upwards mobility as their focus - calling it a 'borderline conspiracy theory', which. is really funny to say about policies with clearly observable outcomes that completely align with the ruling ideology, interests, and public rhetoric of the time

genuinely so telling when people get offended at you referring to them as cis/straight/white. none of those are offensive words, just basic identifying terms. but people get mad because they view trans/gay/non-white identities as inherently derogatory and wrong, so they don’t want the same language applied to them

VOTE FOR REVOLUTIONARY GIRL UTENA RIGHT NOW

these polls are like "an animated cartoon that's survived mostly from nostalgia and adults whose only other show they've watched is spongebob. it's politics are also very safe, yes even for 2005 and people call it gay media just because it has one niche mlm ship"

vs "an anime that was incredibly revolutionary for its time for portraying multiple queer characters, none of which have tragic endings and survive censorship. it's also a takedown of the patriarchal system we still live in and exploring how that system functions. its rich with symbolism and requires metatextual analysis to understand which has created endless discussion because there's so many different reads on it. it has also inspired so many queer creators today, such as Rebecca Sugar, Nate Stevenson, Dana Terrace and Natasha Allegri just to name a few. its constantly referenced in media, both as fanservice and within the core text."

and the cartoon that's still surviving off nostalgia and people apparently not watching any other shows since then wins.
