ok this has become a somewhat popular post, and I just want to add on because I realise this just says about dating, but it extends to friendships too. just be aware of this and remind the person of their worth, yeah? Even if it’s just a friend and not a partner
The long hours after midnight can last so much longer than hours actually pass. Something strange happens. The darkness. The quiet. Opening up delicately and tentatively, exposing itself slowly, with a beautiful, gentle, brave vulnerability that highlights the durability of human hope; our strange ability to cope with putting ourselves on the line even when we’ve been hurt! Over and over, we’ve been hurt; but we somehow keep the remnants of eternal optimism - we keep them flickering with a small flame within, waiting to be a fire again, even though we know too well what it’s like to be burnt, like we haven’t learnt a thing.
