Thinking about how 80 percent of woso tumblr still refuses to respect lynn williams. as a rookie in the nwsl she struggled with some ball skills. but honestly her 1v1s and finishing have improved a lot in my eyes. she scores a lot of goals and i’m pretty sure is in the top 5 most assists in the nwsl. saying she only has one skill which is speed shows a lack of understanding of football. making runs and being in the right position is a skill. tap ins become tap ins when you time the run right. and honestly her aerial finishing is better than christen’s, tobin’s, pinoe’s, mal’s and sophia’s.
and while lynn had a great team around her at ncc towards the end of that era. she was also a huge part of building that success. there was no dunn, debinha, or o’sullivan the year she scored 11 goals in western new york.
some people still seem almost happy when she fails. when she messes up it’s “lol Lynn” or “lynn…” when most other players it would be “so close…” or “please just let ____ get a goal.” everyone talks about supporting black players but it has been so hard for people on here to support the one black player who has been a threat to their fave uswnt forwards.
