Important
Hi,
We, the useless-countryfacts community has decided to make a joint call on this topic, as this isn’t a political problem anymore, it’s a humanitarian one.
The war in Yemen has brought heavy consequences to the population, the biggest one: lack of resources. Cholera hit the country ten days after the sewersystem gave out, and the lack of food and medical assistance led to 80% of the people in great need of humanitarian assistance and protection.
We want to change at least something, by showing you options for donation, as this is very very important and not overseeable anymore.
Thank you.
Something I really want at the moment?
Happy Lunar New Year everyone! 🐖🌟 Live your best lives this year, and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and reach for the things you want!
Anyone watching Vietnam Rewind 2018?
😜
One of the major cultural points that unify the Sinosphere is the historical usage of chopsticks. China started using chopsticks and then spread it to the neighboring countries of Korea, Japan, and Vietnam. Vietnam would inevitably be the first to be spread to since it was part of China for centuries.

Every culture has their own pantheon of deities, but also ghosts and demons. Vietnam is no exception. Here are just a few of them.
Bonus:
Quỷ Một Giò: one-legged demon
Xà Niêng: a human-turned gibbon after getting lost in the forest
Hồ Li Tinh or Cửu Vĩ Hồ: nine-tailed fox
Quỷ Nhập Tràng: a zombie created when its corpse was not properly wrapped and a black cat jumped over it

Danang Golden Bridge Vietnam. 🇻🇳
A pair of giant hands lift the ribbon-like Golden Bridge up in the air above Vietnam’s Trường Sơn Mountains. The shimmering structure emerges from the trees of Thien Thai garden in Ba Na Hills. Set more than 1400m above sea level, the bridge incorporates eight spans and extends 150m-long.
Golden bridge on Ba Na Hills, Da Nang, Vietnam
The bridge is 500 feet across, 4,600 feet above sea level and is lined with purple chrysanthemums the entire way.

Just came back from hell
Viet Nam is going through a pretty rough time.
The government is planning to “rent” out land to foreign corporations for 99 years (possibly only 70, as if that’s any better). This is without any concern for the people who live in these areas.
People are taking to the streets to protest. Especially those who live near the areas in question and in Hanoi.
The army has been called in.
Judging from the size and organization of the protests, they much have been planned in part by civil rights groups.
As of now, 11pm California time, afternoon in Viet Nam, there’s a livestream of a protest on Facebook.
Actually, there are many livestream of the protest happening. Here’s one
From that video, there should be more livestreams in the suggestion.
Are people protesting in Hanoi? I was near the Sword Lake area (center of Hanoi) this morning and did not see any protestors. Apparently in Bình Dương and the South the protests are going on quite harshly...
Nevertheless as Vietnamese people we would never accept the fact that the government is trying to sell out our land by legalising this term of rent!!! And especially land in such crucial yet vulnerable areas!
Call for Basques/people of Basque descent
I’m doing a TedTalk on the Basque influence on the world, and I would really really like to talk to people who are Basque/Basque descendants who live outside of the Basque Country about how the Basque Diaspora has affected them!
