What made Ms.Tulip want to become a teacher? :)

Avatar

Tulip was inspired to become a teacher herself thanks to the teachers she had growing up. As a child she loved school because it was really one of the few places she would feel acknowledged and encouraged by the people around her.

As a teacher in Bluegill, Tulip wants to pass along what she was fortunate to receive. And she believes every kid she educates should feel seen and heard! She just understands the feeling of being left out and overlooked a little too well.

What do you have an easier time with when writing for your ocs? Story, descriptions, or something else entirely?

Also, do the bears in Salmon Road world hibernate?

Avatar

Characterization is probably the easiest for me, writing descriptions and plotting are still a major challenge area. But I’m always learning.

And to answer your second question: Kind of! (worldbuilding under the cut)

Avatar

Are the stories about your OCs available to read somewhere or are they just for you?

Avatar

I have been considering getting into creating zines and mini comics as a way to get started again but for now I am still in the process of developing/updating my stories

You can find all my OC posts under #ocs (artwork) and #oc info (text posts/q&as)

My storyworlds also have their own specific tags if you want to filter out certain characters (ex. salmon road)

For the OC questions: Could you tell me a little more about Whitney and Clementine? I thiiink they're sisters but is Whitney her guardian?

Avatar

Of course, it's been a while so let me rehash some information about them:

-They are sisters! At the start of Salmon Road, Whitney is around 28 yrs old and Clementine is 10 yrs old. Their age gap is bigger so people tend to mistaken Clementine as Whitney's daughter.

-Whitney becomes Clementine's guardian, but that was not always the case. There was a sudden death in the family that left Clementine without anyone else to care for her. Whitney was the last remaining family member who was eligible (and willing), so, Clementine's move to Bluegill Springs and her entrance into Whitney's life again was unexpected.

-They have been estranged since Clementine was a baby. Whitney left home to live with their Grandfather and Clementine was raised by their Aunt. She knows Whitney exists, but they don't exactly have an established relationship when they begin to live together due to Whitney's absence in her life thus far. They were not born into a tight knit family. It is something they have to figure out together due to circumstance.

Does Whitney give good hugs?

Avatar

I would say she is an awkward hugger—stand offish about being touched by most, especially by strangers. Giving hugs is not something she is often inclined to do. She’s more likely to pat you on the shoulder/back (she often pats Clementine on the head)

When she does fully embrace, however, I am sure it feels quite powerful and certain. She’s only really giving those kind of hugs to the people she cares most about keeping close to her chest.

Is salmon road a piece of pre-existing media that you’re making fanart for, or is it your own original world? Either way, love your art!

Thank you! Salmon Road is an original world/story of mine, it takes place in an anthroverse I made up

I feel like Joan would be really into video games considering her love of story telling and tech. :0

If given the funding would she build the ultimate gaming PC? What kind of games do you think she would be into? (Wanted to add that your characters and art style have been a huge inspiration for me. Also, Joan and Whitney have helped me feel more comfortable and confident in the way I express my masculinity.) (❁´◡`❁)

Thank you for sharing with me, I am grateful to know that my characters could be a source of comfort and confidence for you. Creating Whitney & Joan helped me embrace a lot about my own identity at a time when I was struggling to fully accept it.

To answer your question: Joan is probably too proud and emotionally attached to her current PC (Dax) to replace it willingly, even if she was given the tech and funds she doesn't have. But it's true, she has probably played through their anthroverse's rendition of Final Fantasy VII many times.

Perhaps the ultimate gaming PC build could be in her future... if she ever picked up an interest in computer games. I could see her enjoying those Choose Your Own Adventure-type games.

Unfortunately, PC games aren't really on her radar anytime soon because Joan loves that all her devices are designated to particular activities. When she does want to play video games, she sticks to arcade machines and her favorite consoles.

hey there! I really like your art and come back to check on the bears from time to time. I was wondering- maybe I'm mistaken - wasn't there a post which had Joan's and Whitney's respective playlists? Pretty sure I saw something like that on this blog, but I can't find it. Which is a shame, I liked seeing which types of song related to the characters 💛 I understand if you'd rather keep it private though. Good luck on your project!

Hi! You were not mistaken, I did have a post up for Whitney and Joan's respective playlists but I must've deleted it out of anxiety at some point (bad habit)

I am always in the process of reworking their playlists and possibly finding new songs to add but the playlists can still be found here:

Thank you for the kind words + interest anon, I hope you enjoy
