At night, they glow.
Bioluminescence is one of the cooler natural phenomenon I can think of, and making flowers and fungi glow-in-the-dark makes the island much more interesting to be on at night.
Best I can tell, there’s no such thing as a naturally occurring bioluminescent plant. Glowing fungi, sure, but no plants. I find that a shame, I like how it looks in Proteus and I’d like to see a naturally glowing garden in real life.
