me and the 10 people who are going to watch the wheel of time s2 are going to have so much fun
don’t think i can call it a hyperfixation anymore fam im afraid im just long term insane about this piece of media
Welcome to The Locked Tomb! Our books are told through the point of view of
-jock stuck at a renn faire murder mystery party
-schizophrenic malnourished teenager granted unspeakable power
-a baby. Like an actual 6 month old infant.
Good luck!
honestly one of the most noteworthy things, imo, about the robert jordan era of wheel of time is his full stop refusal to glamorize pain. through every single character's experience in the books, he said over and over again: pain and trauma do not make you stronger, they do not make you better, they do not improve your life, and there is no one who is ~ too strong ~ to be susceptible to pain. when he showed intense hardass siuan sanche giving up information under torture, when he showed egwene controlled as a damane, when he showed rand's mental breakdown as he was subjected to more pain and torture and horrors, rj really said stop pretending suffering has moral value with his whole chest
I was just thinking about how important it is to have authors (both fan and professional) with whom I feel... safely unsafe, if that makes sense.
Like, this is going to hurt, there are going to be things that happen to these characters that I absolutely Do Not Want to happen, but I trust you and I trust this ride.
weird little girls are born with divine innate knowledge about the universe
theyre also born with the burden of prophetic dreams
some points. some things. some ideas. none of which are connected, i'm sure.
- "anastasia" means "resurrection" or "one who will be reborn."
- she is the only one of the original lyctors explicitly stated to have sired her house's line of succession.
- this is vitally important (important enough to have been actively preserved against all odds for 10000 years), but nobody seem to quite understand why, including the reverend family.
- alecto says "you are the blood of anastasia," as if this is relevant to her. she then kisses harrow and draws blood.
- it's only after getting verbal confirmation and (presumably) tasting her blood that she pledges her sword to harrow.
- she says "i am sorry about samael," as if that would mean something to harrow, as if she expects harrow to have the same grief over anastasia's cavalier that anastasia did.
- the ninth house is "the house of the sewn tongue," which is a ritual for the keeping of secrets. it also sounds oddly flesh magic-ey for the ninth, which means they probably didn't originate the practice.
- this would imply that it's relevant to their history somehow.
- the ninth's skull is jawless, which we know from the ianthe situation is the way to undo the effects of the sewn tongue.
- when people talk portentously of the ninth, they talk about its "secrets" and its "mysteries," always in the plural.
- which implies that there are more secrets than just the tomb. i doubt they added the plural after the creche flu, can you imagine? the ninth has other, very old secrets.
- harrow loved alecto from sight.
- alecto recognized her immediately.
like i said, this is a series of random, unconnected facts. there are no conclusions whatsoever to be drawn from this.
[July 2022] I don’t even know where to begin with just how much I’m in love with Robin Hobb’s Realm of the Elderlings series. I read them over the course of a few years and it will just be forever my favourite series of all time. Nothing will ever beat it. Without rambling too much Fitz/The Fool is like the single best love story ever created and I won’t take any other opinions thank u
No because at this point it’s actually taken over my life.
hi i finally read harrow the ninth and WTF??? WTF???? WTF!!!!!!!!!!!???????? maybe sometime in the future ill draw more real fanart but until then take all my cope meme doodles
fellas how many times does your bff have to ask u to take off your shirt whilst tenderly dressing your wounds for it to be, like, gay

Robert Jordan making a character who should be a perfect self insert power fantasy for young men (chosen one, powerful sorcerer, king, chief of the Proud Warrior Race Guys, master swordsman, had three hot girlfriends,) and just giving him severe mental illness and the worlds most miserable heroes journey was such a power move
yeah sorry your girlfriend is dead. yeah she impaled herself on iron spikes so that you could eat her and absorb her soul and ascend to lyctorhood. yeah she didn't want to live for you she just wanted to die for you. yeah sorry. at least she warned you that the universe would be less hot and less sexy without her! perhaps you could get a lobotomy to cope?
fool's fate by robin hobb is like. you will read about the deepest and most beautiful tragic meaningful heartbreaking soul crushing love story you will ever read in your life and you will feel emotions that you didn't know existed and you'll hurt in ways that you didn't think possible. and then you finish the book and you have to go on with your life and pretend you are Normal when actually your brain chemistry has been altered for the rest of your life
NAH BUT SHE REALLY SAID THE WONDERGIRLS ARE TOGETHER
THE EVIDENCE JUST ADDS UP
- pal sneezes at lemon cleaning smell while not in his own body
- Pal's body is allergic to cleaning products
- Pal's SOUL IS ALLERGIC TO THEM TOO
- Allergies in tlt aren't confined to one's physical form that shit is stored in the SOUL
No we can go deeper than that. harrow is schizophrenic and nona is not. Nona and harrow's eating difficulties are different because Nona is the ghost of a planet and harrow is not.
so like, what the narrative is saying is, the way people perceive and experience the world isn't easily separable from the core of who they are. because a particular experience of the world...is what a soul is.
By tying physical experiences and differences in neurotype to the soul and not just the body, Muir is A) making the connection between the physical and the mental B) positioning both as the key components of the spiritual C) rejecting the framework of "mind over matter" and the idea that one can completely separate someone's physical or mental struggles from the "real person" they are underneath and--(I am escorted offstage)
