So this is the Cascade Hat by Rachel Brockman. She loves nature, and appreciates the flow of things, and it shows in everything she creates.
This particular hat that the model is wearing, I knitted myself. Last fall this beautiful new yarn from Italy called Truva arrived, and I fell in love. Truva is part cotton and part cashmere, and the fibers take the dye differently to create the color you see, which is somehow both rustic and polished. I was just itching to make something with it. I asked Rachel if there was anything that I could do for the team in this yarn, and she graciously wrote this one ball pattern up, which we’ve made free on our site.
Really, knitting this was just as much for me as it was for the team, since I was spending a lot of time in a hospital room with a loved one. It helped me stay settled to have a beautiful project in a luxury yarn to make.
My loved one is fine now, having made a better recovery than anyone - even me - expected. And at the end of that time, I was still in love with Truva.
I mention this now because we have a fantastic pattern collection coming out in this yarn at the end of the week. If you’re not on our newsletter mailing list, it would be a good time to join to hear more about it. And keep your eyes peeled for more beautiful things in Truva.
