Multi-fandom trash

Knowing that trans women of color started the movement in the united states and were literally immediately erased and excluded from what they started is the most deeply jading knowledge.

It is the original sin of the so-called queer community and it damns it from the cradle.

no white gay boy will ever reblog this, watch:

no white gay will reblog this

no white lgb person will reblog this

Without Stonewall, without the efforts of Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, the LGBTQ Community wouldn’t be where it is today. Don’t forget the roots, don’t forget the catalyst.

and then TERFs wanna be like, “hmm well the LGBT community existed before Stonewall!”

but like…Becky, of course LGBTQ+ people existed before Stonewall. We’ve all existed since the beginning of time. But the movement got a shock to its senses, a jump-start, a rocket-into-space when that glass shattered via Marsha P. Johnson, and when Sylvia Rivera was up on-stage protesting guess who was on the sidelines heckling her?

The same fuckers who won’t ever reblog or acknowledge this

My apologies to the original poster as I photo captured this post to add to the thread-I reposted this last year for pride and expect to repost it every year I have left-it’s our history people.

Marsha P. Johnson allegedly died of suicide in 1992, and her death was never investigated. Even I, a mere prole, could catch the “she was murdered” vibes from the circumstances surrounding the discovery of her body.

Without a trans black woman, LGBT+ rights would not exist. Never forget. Never “pay it no mind”.

There was an arrest across the street from my place in Oakland one day – three cop cars with a bullhorn and guns out – and before I could even get out the gate there were a couple people posted up and one of them was filming and another one was narrating in a calm but very loud voice, just

“HE IS COOPERATING! HIS HANDS ARE EMPTY! HE IS DOING WHAT HE IS TOLD TO DO! HE IS HOLDING STILL! HIS HANDS ARE EMPTY! HE IS NOT BEING THREATENING! HE HAS PUT HIS HANDS BEHIND HIS HEAD AS ASKED! HE IS NOT RESISTING!”

and that was something I hadn’t thought to do before. It certainly let the cops know what the narrative of eye witnesses was going to be.

I especially liked “his hands are empty” because this statement would still be true and a witnessed reason the police should not become violent even if it turned out he had a weapon on his person somewhere.

I see people in NYC stop and record a lot. Even if they are just being nosey, that’s still witnesses if shit goes down.

Speaking aave when you’re not black is a problem that must be addressed

Some of my favorite responses to this post, hastily screenshotted:

Credits to @bandaniofficial, @lauroboros, and @fractalzoom (who I can’t properly link for some reason).

This is a huge issue in the gay community. White gay twinks and white drag queens in particular really need to pay attention to how they use AAVE to be “sassy, bitchy or funny”

Never forget freshman year in HS I joined theater and the white gay junior harassed me for two whole years that I was he ideal "inner black woman" and wanted me to be his "sassy fairy godmother" I was too un-fuckin-comfortable with that shit.

EXACTLY OMFG I REMEMBER WHEN SAYING “MY INNER BLACK WOMAN” WAS A TREND ITS NOT OK

its a national holiday

Celebrating someone’s death seems like a really macabre thing to do. Like I get that people don’t like him because of how his administration dealt with the AIDS epidemic, but promoting someone’s death as a good thing doesn’t sit well with me.

during his administration, we had a problem with abuse of patients in mental healthcare facilities (asylums, but don’t call them that), and his response to it was just to shut down the entire system. he closed all public mental healthcare facilities because a few of them were mistreating patients, and all those mentally ill people suddenly found themselves homeless without the skills necessary to survive in the general populous. he’s the reason why our healthcare system is so terrible, and he’s to blame for the homelessness epidemic (i’ll get into the next reason why he’s responsible for our high homeless population in a sec). millions of people lost everything because of reagan. thousands died.

he also completely restructured our economy. from 1776 until he became president, we had an economic system like no other (look up the American School), but he removed most of the rules and regulations we had to keep the system in place because our system at the time limited accumulation of wealth. we had a built-in buffer that kept most people middle class. when he restructured our economy so he and his friends could get richer, reagan removed the safeguards that kept us out of poverty (most of the time), so now the lower echelons of society were in freefall towards homelessness. people lost their homes and businesses because the rich could do basically whatever they wanted now. superstores like wal-mart rose to prominence and pushed out small businesses because of this. our government also greatly reduced its expenditure on infrastructure. ronald reagan’s greed is why we don’t have enough trains and all our roads are falling apart.

he also expanded our already bloated military while in power. one of his slogans was “peace in strength.” his goal for our country was to get an iron grip around the rest of the world and impose our own agendas on other countries at gunpoint.

One of the first things reagan did when he came to power was to ignore the supreme court’s earlier ruling, ignore the constitution, and try to enforce a mandatory daily christian prayer time in all schools. when government workers went on strike against him and his policies, he fired 11,345 people. he put 11,345 people out of a job because they didn’t like him.

he lowered taxes for the rich, but increased taxes on the poor, contributing to the aforementioned lack of infrastructure and homelessness crisis. he also began privatising the government, which put thousands of jobs at risk and made wealthy capitalists the men who run our country. reagan is responsible for trickle down economics.

after the great depression, our government put in social programs to help people stay afloat, like universal healthcare for the elderly and disabled, basic income (the government paid people to dig ditches if they couldn’t find any other jobs. the ditches didn’t serve any purpose, but those people needed money and the government was willing to give money to anyone who worked), and food stamps. ronald reagan slashed all these programs and more, like the EPA, which made sure we were a “green” country.

as a result of these slashes, people who had been secure on government assistance programs were now having to take out loans and get into debt, which jeopardised our economy. we had a stock market crash because people were becoming too poor to buy stocks, and our national debt increased by 3 times. we went from $997 billion in debt to $2.85 trillion in 1987.

he also pushed us further into the cold war. previously, our relations with russia were cooling down a bit, but during reagan’s second term, he began actively threatening russia again. ronald reagan brought us to the brink of a nuclear war that would have killed all humans on earth.

Ronald Reagan and Maggie Thatcher, the most hated prime minister in UK history, were close friends. he was also personal friends with Donald Trump.

Under reagan, we resumed a history of violent military imperialism in foreign countries, most notably lebanon, afghanistan, and pakistan. In lebanon, we tried to stop a revolution against an oppressive regime, and in afghanistan and pakistan, reagan ordered the CIA to train civilians and create a military force to fight russia for us. Reagan created the taliban, a militant group that even today publicly dismembers people for playing games in public. they cut off children’s hands. He also began dealing weapons with China, betraying our longstanding ally, Taiwan, destabilising politics in the pacific. Under his orders, we secretly aided african and south american military dictatorships in crushing their opposition. He assisted Ayatollah Khomeini, the leader of Iran who started the 1979 revolution, in purging political opposition from the government. in 1988 our military shot down an iranian commercial flight, killing 290 civilians.

Reagan was a Nazi sympathiser and referred to slain SS officers as “victims” of the war. just to make sure you read that right: Ronald Reagan supported the Nazis.

He declared the war on drugs, a movement that has greatly increased the disproportionate incarceration rates of african american and latino men in this country.

During Reagan’s second term, 115,000 people were diagnosed with AIDS and 70,000 died of it. Reagan did nothing to curb the spread, despite knowing that the AIDS epidemic almost exclusively affected black people and the LGBT community. when he learned how many people were dying and who they were, he laughed. he laughed at our suffering while we were dropping dead.

In short, Ronald Reagan was a wealthy, selfish, greedy, capitalistic, imperialist, racist, ableist, homophobic, genocidal, antisemitic, warmongering, backstabbing murderer. Ronald Reagan was a monster.

Wow and this didn’t even cover the crack epidemic

It doesn’t cover the crack epidemic, or the various wars in South America, that resulted in the refugees immigrant crisis now.

Always reblog.

The world got worse because of a handful of people.

Carter put solar panels on the White House. Reagan took them down out of sheer pettiness, and as a gesture of support for oil barons.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Ronald Reagan was the worst President America has ever had, by far. GWB, Trump? They’re small fry, by comparison; terrible, to be sure, but their offenses are merely echoes of Reagan’s atrocities.

People all over the political spectrum have been whitewashing that traitorous, hateful, greedy shitstain for decades. The more people who expose Reagan for what he was, the better.

[footage of the inside of an ordinary Eastern-European home, taken with a handheld phone camera, the man filming is walking from the living room to the back door of the house]

man, narrating in russian: Every fucking year, this time of the year, the pond at my backyard gets infested. What do ponds get infested with? Frogs? Poisonous weeds? Geese? No. Not my pond.

[The man opens the back door, stepping out into a garden. Three or four nude, human-like figures dash from the borders of a pond back into the water.]

man: Rusalki! I don't know where they come from or how they get here, and I can't afford to hire an exterminator every year. I can't let my cat outside anymore. Last year a rusalka managed to drown a whole deer in my pond, the stench was unbearable.

[He walks as he speaks, approaching the pond. There are several eerily beautiful female beings peering at him from under the surface, their long hair floating in the murky water. Their eyes are gleaming in an unhuman way. The man holding the camera stops to film them.]

man, calm and deadpan: What the fuck are all of you staring at. Get jobs or something.

[One of the rusalki, smaller than the others and clearly not a fully matured adult, slowly reaches out of the water with her white, thin hand, grasping his ankle. He appears unconcerned.]

man: You can't drown me, you little idiot. You're too small. Shoo!

[A loud thud startles the rusalki, making them scatter. A second thud makes it clear these are the approaching footsteps of something massive. The man turns around and points the camera at what appears to be a house, walking past above the treeline with chicken-like legs]

man, now yelling: IF YOUR HOUSE SHITS ON MY YARD AGAIN I SWEAR TO FUCKING GOD-

This post is a joy and a delight.

this is the energy

Okay I HAD to do this was just perfect

This whole post was a mf rollercoaster and I’m honestly here for it

Reblogging this once more because my mom and I legitimately laughed to tears.

this is my favorite video on the internet

mental health tip: save this video. watch it when you’re sad. it’s the best goddamn thing on the internet

My therapist asked me to create something “motivating” so I made these.

lol.

I really love these, and I reblog them every single time. Some of you don’t realize how easy it’s to forget to do some of those stuff or how hard they can be some days.

No im not doing it i dont care

Can anyone explain why this sucks so much. Like I thought I would love it because I don’t like social interaction and like being able to work in a way that actually helps me (ex: being able to listen to music) but it’s the worst thing so far and I’m not getting anything done.

@actslikeacat Most people with ADHD thrive on structure and compartmentalization, and with distance learning, that isn’t a thing. We’re in the same place for every class AND extracurricular, and there’s no physical transition to help our brains shift from one thing to the next. Basically, we’ve lost our anchor points and we can’t slow ourselves down or steer our brains in the directions we want them to go. Distance learning has introduced a legitimate accessibility barrier for a SIGNIFICANT portion of the population.

It's not just structure - it's EXTERNALLY IMPOSED structure. Trying to give ourselves structure is like trying to bail out the Titanic with a bucket. All the advice for studying/working from home right now is like 'make sure you give yourself a schedule and stick to it', and for a lot of us that is just not something we can *do*.

All the adderall in the world won't help us stick to an internally motivated structure.

okay can I also add? I’ve never been able to do any kind of extensive school work when it’s been on the internet.

ADHD brains need a delicate balance of positive and negative stimulus. You know what has never failed to supply me with the perfect amount if stimulus? The internet.

When I’m in a classroom, I’m in Class Mode. Sure I probably have my phone on me, but I’m far less likely to be tempted by it. I tend to genuinely want to listen to what the professor has to say (ooh! New Information!), and I can stim or doodle if I need to meet my minimum stimulus requirements.

So. All of that is gone. There’s not anything that can really replicate a classroom environment when it’s online at home. The fall semester has been announced to be all online and I’m genuinely considering just taking it off, because realistically I don’t know that I can do it.

THIS.

online schoolwork has been literally a NIGHTMARE. i get all my work done by being a school environment or in a public library environment!!!! and now i don’t have that!!! and online work has never been my strong suit, PLUS i can’t doodle/draw when i need stimulus because...ITS NOW ALL WORKSHEETS.

i sound super angry in this and that is because i am, not gonna lie. i have received NO outside support, my mom keeps yelling at me to get my work done, and no one understands WHY i can’t get it done.

(and thank you for putting it into words)

My anecdotes are from before "distance learning" was a technological possibility, so I strongly sympathize with everyone dealing with this.

I was undiagnosed as a child, so when my mom put me on homeschool for a couple years she couldn't understand why it was so difficult. I couldn't finish my work unless she stayed in the room with me and made me focus on it, or helped me through each question. Since she had my toddler sister to care for, this was an impossible situation. Also, the work I was given was too easy and immature for me, so I lacked the mental motivation to finish it.

Mom stresses out now when we watch home videos from this time because every time I show up in the frame she sternly tells me to go back to my room and finish my work. She knows now I had ADD, but the videos make her look overbearing when really I was just a squirrel-minded 7yo and she was practically raising us on her own.

The best, perhaps regrettably, learning experience I had during this time was video games. The school provided us with a shiny new PlayStation [1] and some educational games I was required to complete. If anyone knows ADD/ADHD, give us a screen and we won't leave it for DAYS.

We had a little ADHD boy who would come over, and we would give him a game controller and a plate of food and walk away. He was in freaking heaven, but we'd have to remind him to eat or he never would. He had a lot of behavior issues in school that I did not because apparently that's a notable difference between male and female ADHD? I always had good grades and was considered a polite kid, but I often couldn't study or learn without someone sitting down with me and guiding me through things. Had I been rambunctious and loud like him, this may never have happened.

ADHD generally requires that extra help. I needed one-on-one with an educator to really get a grip of what was being taught. My mom is a gentle, patient person when it comes to educating kids, but not everyone's parents are. Some of my current coworkers have no time to spend with their kids at all and complain about how much distance learning requires of them. My coworker with high school boys was shocked by just how much work is expected of high schoolers now that she's their primary educator during the pandemic. As far as I know, none of their children have ADD/ADHD, but they already can't handle the workload.

Teachers who are good at their jobs (and not the many unskilled or overbearing jerks I got) or who really want to be are just not credited enough.

Kids with learning and behavioral disorders, I'm sorry you're going through this. Keep trying to teach yourself in ways that work for you! Discovering learning techniques that work for you will be more important in the long run than whatever your school expects you to learn to get the grade.

Something that might help a little, I don’t know as far as I’m aware I don’t have ADD/ADHD, but I did struggle with school a lot. But I’m starting to learn new subtle things that might help you guys with learning from home!

• If you have long hair, put it up and out of the way in exactly the same way every time you go to study. It helps me get my brain to say, “okay, I’m studying now”
• Wear roughly the same coloured/textured clothes every time you study. It’s a similar thing to the above example.
• This is the most important one. Pick a spot in your bedroom/house where you can study quietly and use that spot EVERY time you study. This should help your brain recognise where you are at, and hopefully have the same effect as being at school. You can also use a public spot/library, but there is too many variables to say that it would be the exact same.
• Keep all your tools in the one spot nearby your study area. That way you know where everything is.
• Keep your study space clean, and organised. It makes things go a lot smoother and always clean up AFTER you finish that way you can go straight back to it next time.
• Only use your study space for study. This one is hard but necessary. If you want to watch something or do something that’s not study, move to a different part of your room/house and do that there.
I hope these tips helped!!

Oh hey it’s back on my dash perfect!  I was just thinking of this the other day!

FUN FACT!

IT WASN’T JUST ANY OLD DUDE WHO DECIDED, “HEY I WANT TO CREATE A KOREAN ALPHABET.”

IT WAS KING SEJONG, WHO ORDERED HIS ROYAL SCHOLARS TO CREATE THIS ALPHABET SO READING AND WRITING COULD BE ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE, EVEN THE PEASANTS. IT WAS PURPOSELY DESIGNED TO BE EASY TO LEARN.

SO SHOUT OUT TO KING SEJONG, WHO REALIZED BEFORE MANY OTHERS THE IMPORTANCE OF UNIVERSAL LITERACY.
