"i can fix them" [makes them aromantic]
TOH SPOILERS AHEAD
I want to share something regarding my feelings about the Collector that I shared on one of the Discord servers I'm apart of. It's about his ending:
So I was spoiled beforehand about the Collector leaving and I was so so mad about it at first.
I wanted him to stay so badly. To have a family and not be alone again.
But... learning the context of why he's leaving, I'm really proud of him.
I was so worried about him being alone again but I realised something as I watched the ending: This is different from all the other times he's been left alone and abandoned.
This time, He's got people to go back to now. People who really care about him now who love him. Real friends and a real family.
He is not being exiled. He is leaving on his own accord. To learn and grow and to paraphrase his own words "got some growing up/maturing to do". He's no longer restricted and trapped in a mirror with his only company being that manipulative bastard Belos. He's free! And best part:
He's got people in his corner now. Luz, Eda, King. He's got people to go back to. People who really care about them, people who love him and understand him. They're his family now.
He's going out there to learn and understand, and that's so freaking admirable. And I'm so proud of him for it <33.
He won't stay away forever. He's gonna come back and visit once in a while, said so himself. And King (and this is a big thing that had me squealing) wants him to come back eventually and THAT is a guarantee Collector will make sure to visit.
What's happening right now is exactly the opposite of what happened before. He's free to explore and learn about the worlds, he's got people who genuinely care about him.
He's never going back to his siblings, I can't imagine him WILLINGLY going back. It makes no sense for him to go back after he literally expressed his hatred for what they did to his Titan friends. I think he's just going to travel and see what the universe has to offer. See what else there is to learn. And I bet he's going to have a blast.
This may not have been the ending we Collector fans have imagined for him. But I do believe this is a good one. He's free and despite the fact he is indeed heading out into the galaxy on his own, can we really say he's alone? When he's got people like Luz, Eda and King he'll go back for?
In the end, Collector got exactly what he and what we wished for him. Freedom and a real family. Its just not in a form we expected. And I, for one, am extremely happy for him.
Thank you Dana and the rest of the TOH crew for this awesome finale and a spectacular show in general.
And Collector, enjoy your journey lil' bean <3
I genuinely love the owl house and it's ending was still very good but the only thing i can feel about it right now is fury. You can literally see where the story they didn't have time to tell was cut out because of how homophobic disney was. Every episode had enough happen to cover an entire season. Character arcs happen at light speed because they have to. The epilogue happens WHILE THE CREDITS PLAY to squeeze the story into every second they were given. The animation quality literally drops between dialog and action scenes because they didn't even have enough budget to make their last 3 episodes look perfect. It's just never going to be ok with me that cartoons are taking genuine risks and are revolutionizing storytelling and what's killing them is not that audiences don't respond but that execs feel uncomfortable that children might learn to love themselves when they never got to.
I am fucking sorry but a child who learnt a lesson about kindness and forgiveness and their first idea of applying it is to megalomaniac who wants everyone dead and you geniunely expect them to do some ‘growing up’ by THEMSELVES?
Or even worse, with OTHER COLLECTORS??
I mean to be fair, and I’m not saying I disagreeing with you here because I still think you’re right. But the collector has been trapped in the isles since at least around the time belos had first appeared in the isles (time pool episode) and he has been stuck in the isles because of/with belos.
He has been there for YEARS, and has been alive longer than that. And as we know he’s clearly not human, but a god. Like everyone else belos had tricked him and while yes, i think with time the people of the boiling isles would understand and get used to the collector (maybe not forgive because they went through that for MONTHS) but the collector, like I said before, is a god. For all we know he will probably out live the people of the isles, maybe even everyone in the human realm, them staying wouldn’t really be worth it I don’t think.
I think him leaving is one of the best things they could have done, the collector isn’t dumb, naive or oblivious because they are a child, but because he’s never been around a normal mortal before. As far as we are aware we know he’s seen belos, hunter and previous grim walkers, they’re siblings (other collectors) and younger titans. Never have they been around regular mortals, only what they had thought to be a regular mortals/witch’s, which was Caleb’s reincarnations and belos. They watched as belos brought back grim walker after grim walker and thought that was normal, as well as belos being alive as long as he was. He assumed everyone else was like that, but he learns from Luz that not everyone is like that and mortals are more fragile then he is. That’s all he really needed in terms of learning I think “not everyone is like you.” “Don’t trust blindly.”
It’s okay to have your opinion and if his ending satisfies you, it’s great! i wish it was like that for me xD cause his decision came out of nowhere for me fjdhj xD
If you don’t mind I will talk about some of your points?
Hello! Just wanted to thank you for being so civilized about my response, whenever I’ve tried to bring up some points or debate with someone else if something in a show was actually “good or not” it’s never really gone well for me lol
But I just want to respond to some of the points you just brought up again if you don’t mind because I assume that the collectors ending not living up to what you wanted it to be might cause the whole ending in itself to feel a bit unsatisfying. And I just want to help try to find a bit of a middle ground because I know from personal experiences that one bad part of a show’s ending can throw the whole thing off for me.
So if you want to ignore this honestly feel free to, I just want to help as much as I can to get to a more satisfying conclusion of this or at the very least have a possible better understanding of why they went the way they did with it.
Oh it’s okay! I understand people can be a bit… too passionate about their obsessions and honestly I was *very* passionately angry xD But I feel this is unfair to be rude to people because of it. Especially when they try to be polite to you too!
Even though these shows are very important to us, people’s feelings matter more!
I already decided there is no middle ground for me, I went through the whole thing that really resemled literal stages of grief xD I tried compromising but it kept the wound constantly open. So instead I admitted the ending is bad for me and moved on to daydream AUs where he didn’t leave xD
But I don’t mind discussing it, since it’s clearly in a good faith and you don’t try to force me change my opinion and I will try to not be too pushy because I can get carried away xD
I agree with everything you brought up here and I don’t have anything else to add, so thank you for having this discussion with me!
I definitely get the being to passionate thing, when I was a preteen I tended to hold shows (or any type of media I liked) very close to my heart and got pretty emotional about other people’s opinions. So it’s been pretty hard for me to get mad or be rude about other people’s thoughts without think about how I felt about things back then. So it’s very cool I got to have this discussion with you!
As for the coping and acceptance I once again totally get it, I was more in the middle of the collector should/shouldn’t leave bit but ended up leaning more the other way on. My way of coping was just going right to find a way for it to feel right for me and to make more logical sense of the situation. Not to say your argument isn’t logical. Because I do think your right and made a really good argument. It’s definitely not my place to judge someone on the way they cope and if that works for them that works for you and I’m glad it does :).
posts about ~toxic fandoms~ or whatever need to open their eyes to the true way of experiencing a piece of media which is just you and three of your weirdest friends (two of which, importantly, have no idea what youre talking about) peace on earth!!!!!!!
autistic super strength. he totally threw out his back doing this

what a whimsical guy! would be a shame if horrors were to befall him
Lesbian angel, inspired by butterflies.
Last year's version was more abstract so I tried to make the butterfly shape more obvious with the redesign.

A reminder that lesbians need abortions too. There are tons of reasons why a lesbian might need an abortion so kindly stop saying we are lucky we don’t have to worry about the current state of the US. It’s stupid that I even have to say this and I’m tired of seeing the take that we shouldn’t have to worry about abortion access being taken away in many states.
happy lesbian visibility week!
lesbians..... start killing
