"Anarchist" but gets triggered when people voluntarily don't wear bicycle helmets.

Me when I know what anarchy is

Gravity legally cannot hurt you if you scream "NO GODS NO MASTERS" immediately before impact

I'm so fucking tired of this bicycle helmet discourse. Bike helmets aren't going to do shit to protect you if you get hit by a car

Most of the time... Bike accidents.... Involve things.... Other than cars...... like the ground....also it's safety gear..... Wearing it is non negotiable.... You are one accident away from being permanently disabled..... You need to protect your brain

Is OSHA and other safety regulations also cop behavior?

*sigh* The belief that OSHA and other safety regulations are cop behavior are common opinions that people have, anarchist or not. Wearing PPE is annoying and often uncomfortable, sweaty, and cumbersome. People also generally hate being told to be careful, because they believe that "be careful" is synonymous with "hey, you're too stupid to do that without hurting yourself".

But all it takes is one time for you to slip up and suddenly the grinder disk that would have gotten stuck in your safety glasses is in your eye, or you're getting treated for lung cancer because you didn't want to wear your respirator while you welded. These are decisions that you were free to make, but might seriously regret later on.

People will scream until they're blue in the face about how oppressive it is to have to wear a safety vest and hard hat on a construction site, but do you really think that the hammer that slipped out of your buddy's hand is going to take that into consideration when it collides with your skull?

No political theory will save you from an accident. You can either wear your PPE, or can die, unexpectedly, painfully, and slowly. The choice is yours. Go argue with a lathe if you feel so strongly about it.

the crab day thing kind of proves staff must think we're all fucking idiots

hi there. tumblr as a website is currently operating at a deficit because nobody wants to pay for ad free browsing. this is because basic quality-of-life features are either nonexistent or malfunctioning, our staff refuses to take the most trivial of anti-hate speech measures despite demonstrating the tools to do so against minority bloggers, and every form of content moderation is heavily and transparently weighted against the LGBT community. as the people in charge, we have decided that we're going to ignore all of those factors and instead make an appeal to nostalgia to get you to buy dumb cosmetic bullshit for your dashboard while we threaten to turn the website into an even less functional twitter clone, much like how all the smartest shipwrights in the 1920s decided to model their new vessels after the RMS Titanic.

best thing tumblr ever did for me is the term "rotating it in my mind". it's really true that sometimes you think about something real hard but you can't tell what the thoughts are exactly. it's revolutionary stuff, i might even say

sometimes the subject of your thoughts is just in this thing

People who don’t alphabetize by author last name confuse and frighten me.

The only section of my home library that does not follow this organization scheme is my art history books; books about a particular artist are alphabetized by artist’s last name, and books about general art history are organized by era they cover as best as possible.

People who are organizing their bookshelves by physical properties of the books?? They’re your books so do what you want but also I’m scared of you.

Welcome to the future, where you don’t own anything and the stuff you rent stops working once your phone has no signal.

App powered car? 🤦‍♀️

I wish people remembered the age old wisdom that if something doesn’t absolutely require an Internet connection to function, it shouldn’t be connected to the internet - same goes for apps.

WHY IS A CATFOOD DISPENSER CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET

Sometimes I’m glad that I’m too poor for my “cool future stuff” monkey brain to be set loose to buy stupid shit like this.

please please please do not buy into the Internet of Things. Digital displays for appliances are one thing, but you shouldn’t need the fucking internet to do your laundry or use the fridge.

Also digital displays for appliances are not “one thing”. if seeing something without opening/physically interacting with it was necessary, it would already be a feature, like clear windows in dryers.

it’s very easy to get caught up in the old adage of “back in my day things were better”, but it also rings very true. As time moves on and on, Capitalists slowly inch more and more towards the idea of manufactured and planned obsolescence.

Ubisoft Assassin's Creed's Evie Frye Voice Actress Victoria Atkins has been replaced by AI while protesting for SAG-AFTRA

She also never receives residuals

And yet Ubisoft continues to make more AC games whilst not even paying their workers what they’re owed… and using AI. Wow.

same energy as that buffy episode where the big bad ‘can’t be hurt by any weapon forged’ and she’s like ‘it’s been a 500 years are you sure’ and annihilates it with a fuckin M136 rocket launcher

Just so we're all on the same page with the writer's strike.

If during the strike, it's announced about AI generated shows. We are not watching them. Not even out of curiosity. Let them fail every AI generated show they try make.

The human voice can not be replaced by AI. Don't let them try.

The kind of thing a good coder wouldn't mind seeing on their tombstone:

DEGRADED GRACEFULLY

Finally, a truly useful flashlight design!  Because even just some light from one or two functional batteries is better than having not enough batteries to even close the circuit!  Plus, if the contacts corrode at one spot and you don’t have the time & means to clean it, you can still get light out of the thing!
