NO ONE understands the joy i get when im reading a despair era izuru fic that ends in a fast forward to postgame and i assume the author had him merge with hajime because the postgame portion of the fic is from hajime’s point of view. AND THEN I GET PROVED WRONG AND IZURU SPEAKS FROM THE BACK OF HAJIMES HEAD OR SOMETHING. AND THE AUTHOR DECIDED TO KEEP THEM SEPARATE. NO ONE UNDERSTANDS THE PURE JOY I FEEL,

Someone more kind might describe it as passage without passion or purpose. Either way, it was a fact that their classmate Izuru Kamukura never hurried anywhere, nor even appeared to be looking where he was going half the time, and he still arrived in places before anyone else. Usually wandered away before anyone else, too.

All of which is to explain why half of them performed synchronised double-takes when they saw Izuru sprint across campus and disappear into the machine shop. They hadn’t known he was able. He always disappeared on sports days.

“Huh,” said Nekomaru, looking at the almost-cartoonish trail of raised dust, and rubbed his chin.

“Ow.” The sprawled Nagito Komaeda looked up, rubbing his fluffy head, which had just been hit by a falling bolt. The rest of the falling car was currently in the hands of… oh… Izuru, who set it down on its roof without looking at it.

“Sorry. I missed the bolt.”

“Oh, no, I’m sorry you were put to the trouble of saving a wretch like me. I didn’t even notice you were in here.”

“I was not.”

“But then…” Nagito picked himself up, brushed off his knees, winced at the already-forming bruises there. “…you can’t be saying you came here especially to save me?”

“Correct.” Izuru picked up the offending bolt and turned it around in his strong, manly, lickable, hope-filled fingers. “I did not say that.”

Ah. Nagito nodded, reassured of his place in the world. “So you just happened to be passing. Well, th—”

“Nor did I say that.”

Blink. Blink. Izuru didn’t seem to be paying him any attention, but he was still here, hadn’t drifted off in boredom yet, and that… what did that mean?

“Well, which is it, then?” Nagito asked at last.

“Grade 8. See the radial lines on the head.”

“No, not the… bolt…”

Izuru tossed said bolt aside. It landed in one of the compartments on the nearest workbench. “Goodbye,” he said, and wandered away. Unhurriedly.

Anyone who doesn’t see Izuru’s transparently in love with this boy needs to work on their Izuru-interpretation skills.

I mean, initiating a conversation, apologising for something, telling him an Interesting Fact and saying goodbye before drifting off… that’s like… a marriage proposal practically.

I love Talent Development Plannish settings and the opportunities they give to make characters interact.
