If you're in the process of converting to Judaism here is my advice:
Worry less about arguments online and worry more about (in no particular order):
- Following a shabbat service and learning tunes your synagogue uses frequently
- What kind of volunteering you want to do in your local Jewish community
- Setting up time with your rabbi(s) to talk and ask questions
- Writing for yourself in a journal about the process
- Tefillah
a tape is like a torah scroll
Rolling the scroll back up at the end of Simchat Torah and it makes the VCR rewinding sound
Did I propose to @tzipporahssong in a synagogue? Why yes. Yes I did.

#does a single one of these states have a jewish community in them#genuine question I can't vote for any of them unless I know the answer to that#I'm not living in a place with literally zero kosher places to eat out at#polls
gail, chicago is illinois
we lived there and were very jewish there
I love you(!) but just bc you lived there doesn't mean there's a substantial community. My great great grandparents lived in Minnesota I believe? Somewhere north ish. And my great grandfather specifically took the family there because there was no Jewish community within miles
Still, good to know
fair enough
- chicago in illinois has a huge jewish community
- minnesota in the twin cities has a decent sized jewish community
- ohio has multiple jewish communities and used to have one of the campuses of the reform jewish rabbinical school
- milwaukee in wisconsin has a decent sized jewish community
that's just from the top of my head and my lived experiences!
HaShem to the Pharaoh:
If tumblr existed the night before the Torah was given at Mt. Sinai
I really love it when people include their pets in religious activities. Of course your bird also gets a christmas present, of course you'll get your cat her own prayer mat so she can mirror you without interrupting, sure you can do a welcoming-a-new-family-member-home ritual for your new puppy. The animal has no idea what's going on in a spiritual level, just that this is a Human Activity and they're getting included because they are very loved.
Hillel: put your right foot in Gentile: done Hillel: now take it out Gentile: ..Ok Hillel: put your other foot in, shake it all about Gentile: wait what? Hillel: what is hateful to you do not do to another Hillel: that's what it's all about
