I know the likelihood of the metal gear fandom hearing me out on this is low but, Huey’s storyline is so, queer to me. The way in which, even when he’s not positioned as an antagonist it’s made obvious that he doesn’t fit the masculine ideals of the other characters. Even within mgs3 when he’s mentioned by sigint, it’s in a way where he was mentioned as a laughing stock, his name not even being correctly remembered. It’s emphasized how little his colleagues respected him, and how in turn he became willing to practically let people walk all over him for any amount of acknowledgment. What’s also emphasized is the way he talks about his disability. Often lamenting over “being born wrong” and while this already has connection with his disability being such a large part of his character. It also correlates with the idea of him being a self loathing disabled queer man. Because unlike other characters in the story who are more blatantly queer, he doesn’t have the same ability to defend himself physically or verbally. And has a different upbringing most likely, a specific line about his father leading me to believe this, “At any rate, that’s what my father made me believe when I was growing up…” This line refers to the way in which his father talked about the radiation in correlation with his disability. But the language also implies that it was in a rather demeaning way. It’s likely that, if the concept of homosexuality was even talked about within his household, it was negatively. And onto mgsvtpp, he’s made himself legs. The way in which he clings onto them along with the newfound confidence they give him, can mirror a lot of experiences. Because despite his new abilities and appearance, he is regarded in the same way, and is still just as vulnerable as before to people who hate him. Along with the way in which the forced perspective alienates him from the diamond dogs, specifically in the ways where he doesn’t match up to the masculine standards the other characters uphold, is also important. He’s constantly presented in a way where any violence against him just makes him appear worse. Instead of eliciting any sort of sympathy, he is often blamed for the violence enacted onto him. And onto his infatuation with Strangelove, it’s most likely not genuine. In his letter to her, there’s not a single confession of feelings. And within it, it doesn’t focus on Strangelove, but rather her intelligence and work. This is a continued pattern whenever he talks about Strangelove, being interested in her knowledge rather than her. There’s also the praise he receives from her. Being clearly starved for affection and approval, someone who he perceives as superior acknowledging his intelligence when it’s been mocked and downplayed. It’s a possibility that he mistook his own feelings of admiration along with finally being recognized as romantic. To sum this up, I think Huey’s gay as shit, happy priddeeee.

when i was a freshman in college i wanted to dress up for halloween because i thought surely college students would have the spirit. so i elected to put together a whole entire Skull Kid from legend of zelda majora’s mask cosplay together and wear that fucking ensemble to college on halloween.

i step on campus and realize immediately that not one other person is dressed up. not so much as a cat ear headband. so imagine this fucking dude sitting in a class of otherwise normally dressed people looking like this. that was me. this was my 9/11
