A general in her ceremonial attire and a noble girl in her ball gown.

Moths and butterflies tend to incorporate armor-like elements into their outfits even if they are not connected to the army, though these elements are significantly lighter and more ornate than their functional counterparts. Sometimes this decorative armor is made of porcelain.

Imagine if I was the blacksmith’s daughter in a small village, and he didn’t have any sons and decided to teach me as his apprentice, but I had to crossdress as a man so that our business and reputation wouldn’t take a hit. And one day we get a message from a nearby Count who wants my father to make him a beautiful, complicated sword. We begin working on the sword and my father becomes deathly ill, so I have to take care of him and work on the swords. The Count sends his daughter down to check on the sword, since he heard that the blacksmith had become ill. The Count’s daughter is beautiful and sweet and we hit it off right away, and she goes home to tell her father, the Count, that the blacksmith’s apprentice is up to the task. As I work on perfecting the sword, the Count’s daughter comes down to visit me as often as she can and we grow closer and closer. She tells me the sword is actually for her, she wants to be a knight and her father has been incredibly supportive and wanted the sword for her as token of appreciation for how hard she’s been training. And I tell her I’ve been crossdressing so I could take my father’s place. We fall in love and live together from the rest of our lives, her as a knight, protected in her armour, and me, working at our home forge. I still have to dress as a man to receive visitors and keep business, but I don’t mind. I spend my free time perfecting the sword’s I make for my wife, knowing that knighthood is dangerous, and creating a perfect, balanced weapon is how I can keep her safe.

Passport Photo Series London-based visual artist Max Siedentopf recruited a cast of friends and strangers to sit for passport photos. Above the shoulders the participants are straight-faced and rigid, yet below they are balancing full wine glasses along their arms, taped to a wall, or even on fire.

the photographer hero we didn’t know we needed

This is the funniest thing ever

People on twitter are always like 'there's still people on tumblr?'... As if Twitter wasn't full of stolen text posts, gifs and art originally posted here

They think that they’re doing an archeological dig but really they’re just walking into our houses picking up random stuff and saying “Wow, what a beautiful post! Shame that the people who made it died a long time ago :(((” While we stare at them from our dinner tables

@transgirl-link this was too fuckin funny to leave in the notes
