I gave Metis Cykes an oversized blunt, sorry if she codes more robots to be homocidal.

I am unconcerned. Aura was the more homicidal of the two, and she has chilled slightly.

Does that mean you should have done so? Nay. Will there be death wrought? Not likely.

Disappointed,

-Simon Blackquill

hi simon, has it ever occurred to you that athena's and her mom's surname can be read as a pun on the word "psychology"? and with them being psychologists... you see where i'm going with this.

The cheeriest of cheesecakes,

Be careful who you point this out to. I've found not everyone likes it when I observe out loud how their name ties to their job or their nature. It seems the others are either oblivious, or it's something they've all agreed not to mention, leaving me in the dark. I will admit it took me longer then I'd like to admit to notice that trend in Cykes-sama, but others i picked it up at once.

One miss Oldbag seemed especially upset by the comment, and I believe she missed the point entirely. Gumshoe seemed outright flummoxed.

Respectfully,

Dear readers.

I understand there has been quite a bit of radio silence lately, and uncertainty as to why that is.

Apologies. The fact of the matter is that our house has been quite busy of late, and will, indeed, soon no longer be our house.

We are moving.

We will still be in the same city, but our hunt for a new building is over. Our remaining spare time will likely be spent packing.

Apologies for further delays caused by this.

thoughts on horror movies?

Avatar

My....mirror? Alternate self?

Hm.

Reader,

It largely depends on the type of horror. Pointless jump scares are dull, and unneeded. Gore-fests do not bother me particularly, but I can not watch them with Cykes-Dono, as it is upsetting to her. though Fool-bright and I do enjoy picking apart inaccurate scenes in them, it's amazing how many ignore how blood actually works.

Phycological horror is, at times, a fascinating exploration of the human mind. To plunge into the abyss and see what lurks underneath. Unfortunately, it is not always as easy to climb back out. For this reason, I tend to steer clear except for occasional films, lest my paranoia become crippling. Of course, that is only if it is done well, not poorly. A poorly written film is easily cast aside.

That said, anything with faces disappearing or being removed is not welcome in our home.

I would be interested in hearing your thoughts, and if you have any you particularly like. Are you a great watcher of these films?

Unshaken,

Métis Cykes

Avatar

Reader,

Hm. Métis, like the group of people in Canada who are mixed Indigenous and European in ancestry?

I will admit I am unware of that portion of Cykes-sama's history, but It is certainly possible. She had lived north previously, and while I believe she has some Japanese ancestry, I.....do not actually know that as a fact. I do know she has lived in Canada, so it may indeed be the case.

If you have, in fact, just misspelled her name, then know it does not contain a written accent.

Curious,

-To Bobby Fulbright,
I was wondering if you don't mind can I send you a post I made.
I call it “The Ballad of Champion of Justice” and I think Simon Blackquill would like it as well.
But be warned it’s very sad and it kinda has to do with the fact The Phantom killed the real Bobby Fulbright.
Hope you guys don't mind it ☺️

I need to go.

-Fulbright

What has gotten him so upset-

Ah.

Reader, I understand there may be confusion over this, but Fulbright is alive and well, if a tad haunted by the events that transpired. I would still be interested in seeing you work, but will have to use my best judgement on when, and if, to show it to him. Please do send it, I should very much like to see it.

Tired,

-Simon Blackquill

Hello anonymous reader!

Ohohoho! Indeed, very accurate, the very picture of accuracy in fact! We could replace the mirror with these images and he would not notice!

In case the link doesn't work, other readers can see the post here!

I should show him this, I'm sure he would have a great laugh!

I want to know what Simon’s opinion on the PhantomDad theory is.

Basically, does he think the French/Japanese computer samurai have relations with the international spy

Hello my good Meowth!

Oooh, do you think so? He didn't really seem the type to me, but-

(Bobby's answer cuts off as Simon bursts the door open)

No. Absolutely not.

I will not hear such nonsense again.

Dear Simon and Bobby,

how do I get over a broken heart?

There was someone very dear to me, but they don't want to talk to me anymore. I'm not taking it well.

Do you have any advice?

My anonymous friend,

You are facing a rough time. There is no clear and easy answer, and it can be unclear how to proceed. Sometimes the gap can be bridged, but not always. It is best to respect their wishes, as hounding them will only push them farther away.

Turn instead to those who love you in return. Take the time to grieve, as while the person lives, the relationship has passed. Speak to those who are close to you, and consider finding ways you can spend time with them. I know from personal experience that denying yourself the chance to mourn will hurt you further in the future, but wallowing will offer no peace. Seek instead to continue your life, but do not claim it is the same as before. A new hobby may help, as well as time with your other friends and family.

Know that the pain is not forever. While you will likely miss their presence for as long as you cared for them, you will heal as well. The emotions will change, and while you think of them again, you will not be alone. To hurt greatly is the price of loving deeply, and this, too, will pass.

Regretfully,

-Simon Blackquill

Dear, Just reader,

I don't know that I can advise you as well as Prosecutor Blackquill can, but you are not alone. Life is full of meetings and partings, and while they may no longer wish to be part of your life, there are others who do.

Be safe, be well!

Hi Prosecutor Blackquill,

You asked to see my see my sketch of you so here it is! Specifically it's just just a half-body of you in Link's champion shirt from Breath of the Wild. I was gonna add the Master Sword but I realized I didn't want to draw your right hand sooo.... I left it out. Probably never gonna finish it but it was fun!

(Was also gonna add Taka but got distracted and forgot)

Sun,

Thank you for sharing with me. As I suspected, I do indeed look fine dressed this way. Your art skill is a fine thing as well, and I encourage you to continue. If you need inspiration, I have some ideas, but draw what you like. It will become terribly dull otherwise.

-Simon Blackquill

Dear Bobby Fulbright,

Do you know anything about your ancestors?

Avatar

Oh, Hello! Thank you for the ask, my good teardrop!

Not very much. I know the last couple generations have lived in Wyoming, but aside from that I'm not certain.

I'd love to learn more though! It sounds fascinating. Do you know much about yours?

In Justice We Trust!

Prosecutor Blackquill (and Fool-- I mean Fullbright can answer too if he'd like),

Do you like The Legend of Zelda at all or do you have any opinion on it? If so, do you have a favorite game? One of my friends asked me to draw you in Link's champion outfit and it's sitting in my doodle folder (honestly I think you look really good in it).

Please give Taka some extra love from me, he's a good bird and deserves all the love and attention in the world!

-Sun

Avatar

Sun,

I am not much of a gamer, but I've no objection to the legend of Zelda. It is a classic tale, the Princess, the Hero, the Villain, typically Ganon, yes? A mad man driven by power. It's a simple formula, but that is not a bad thing. As a youth I played the minish cap, and while that is the only one I've interacted with personally, Athena is quite found of the new one, with the horses. It looks very well done.

I am certain I would look fine in it, and would be intrigued to see your work. I would be lying if I claimed defeating that vatti was not an enjoyable experience, perhaps I would feel similar to defeating others.

Taka is the best bird, and shall receive all of the attention deserved, rest assured.

-Simon Blackquill

what is your favourite colour, if you have one?

Avatar

Ooh! How fun! Oh, but I should start properly.

Sparkyblizz, thank you for the question!

My favorite is orange, but I'm quite fond of white as well, like a creamsicle!

Prosecutor Blackquill's is black I think, like those ink things he uses for calligraphy. He's also fond of the color of Taka's chest feathers, but don't tell!

Prosecutor Blackquill,

Assume you were at a bar or diner and engaged in a debate that threatens to spill over into violence. How would you diffuse such a scenario? If push comes to shove, how would you handle the ensuing brawl?

Having served time in prison, you're likely no stranger to unprompted fisticuffs. There must be something you can impart, even if it's just some amusing anecdotes to serve as an example.

(That is, if you did not stoke the flames to begin with for a laugh. Not that I would assume such a thing.)

Sincerly,

A Wayward Stranger

Wayward Reader,

Intriguing. There were, as a matter of fact, several times when I did indeed stoke the flames for a laugh. It is quite amusing to do so, and fairly easy as well. What is more difficult is fanning the flames so others are fighting, but do not take swings at yourself, implying that it is another opinion, or stating the things they do in fact say, but only behind closed doors. If I feel that something should, instead, be diffused, it would depend on what the conversation is about, but making the other person feel as though they are listened to and their opinion is valid is key. I may still state my disagreement, but I would wish for the other party to feel as though they have been heard, given a fair chance to speak, and is still respected despite the fact that I believe them to be wrong. I may have no respect for them at all, but we are deescalating. There are topics I will not do this for, but as a general rule, people wish to be heard, and shutting them down will only anger them further.

As for how to handle unprompted fights, I find that going for weak, less protected points are the best option. People go for the face rather readily, and it is indeed venerable, the nose in particular. Other weak points include the gut, groin, and instep. There are more still, but those are the most obvious, and while they are often more protected, it is harder to protect all at once. If you are not experienced in fighting, then there will be a learning curve. There is also stance, balance and size to keep in mind, but those are considerably harder to discuss over a text-based platform.

As for anecdotes, I have several, most notable is the time I pressed that fool Engarde into a violent rage by giving my honest thoughts on his show. Tripe, and inferior to it's predecessors. fanning his rage continued, I particularly liked when I said I wouldn't pay a nickel for his performance. In his rage, he came at me with a good deal of adrenaline, but distinct lack of foresight. I dodged, and he happened to barrel right into one Furio Tigre. The results were quite enjoyable to watch.

Amused,

-Simon Blackquill

Bah.

It seems the Detective had a lasting impact on this endeavor. He claims to have only done it as i was "neglecting my duties". Bloody fool.

Now I am receiving query's meant for him. Besides the question i have sitting in drafts, they seem to be mostly his.

I suppose I shall have to allow him to answer. He shall, for the time being, remain.

-Simon Blackquill

Oh thank you sir! For letting me answer more, not for insulting me. That's very rude, even if you are upset with me! Still, thank you sir!
