Tama is boss

THE TRAINS HAVE CARTOON TAMAS ON THEM

Sad update everyone, Tama recently passed away… An estimated 3,000 people, including railway officials, attended Tama the cat’s funeral on Sunday, days after she died of heart failure aged 16. [x]

For those who haven’t read articles about it, the local shrine elevated her to a god. She’s now the Eternal Stationmaster and patron god of the station.

Beautiful.

Now I’m crying thanks

and a new cat was hired right?

yep! her name is Nitama (essentially ”second tama” or “tama II”) and she served under Tama as an apprentice before being appointed her deputy

I’m crying at 11pm over train cats

Nitama, already now a mature cat (born 2010), has a protege named Yontama (fourth Tama, b. 2016).  There is no information available for either the physical befellment or tragic self-disgrace which has removed Santama from contention.

okay but actually what happened to santama (or sun-tama-tama, which is her name because it’s a pun on santama) was that she was basically sent to train for the position in okayama and they liked her so much they refused to send her back

“Sun-tama-tama” (a pun off of “Santama”, lit. “third Tama”) was a calico cat sent for training in Okayama. Sun-tama-tama was considered as a candidate for Tama’s successor, but the Okayama Public Relations representative who had been caring for Sun-tama-tama refused to give the cat up writing, “I will not let go of this child, she will stay in Okayama.” [25]
As of September 2018, Sun-tama-tama is working as the stationmaster in Naka-ku, Okayama and appears occasionally on Tama’s Twitter account.

Every time I see this post there’s new info and it gets better

You are only allowed to scroll pass this after you pay tribute to the great Tama Station masters.

Nitama presenting her yearly offerings to Tama Daimyōjin on the anniversary of Tama’s Death, June 23 (The offerings are presented by the company president, as Nitama is a cat and thus can’t hold the offerings herself) (Not pictured, but also present, Yontama)

Shera commission! Prompt was catra struggling to write a letter to her younger self

Thanks to the ever patient commissioner for letting me get a bit off track with it!

Razz: There you are Mara dearie, and you brought… That’s not the evil ghost. You should keep this one. She seems nicer, less evil.

Adora beaming: She is and I will. This is Catra.

Catra: Adora, did you date an evil ghost behind my back?

Holy Shit Jupiter’s Legacy is Fucking Awful...

And that’s saying something because I can find something to love about some pretty awful shit or even enjoy bad media if it’s at least fun. This show is a slooooog. It’s all tell zero show, the characters are ass, and worst of everything… It is BORING. I’m on ep. 4 and I keep waiting for it to grab me….and nothing. There’s not a single solitary character I like in this bitch. And it’s so disappointing, because I have dug Steven S. DeKnight’s other work… Spartacus remains a trashy fave.

Whelp… Jupiter’s Legacy supposedly cost Netflix 200 mil and they cancelled it. 200 MIL yall… They threw all that money at that turd only to pull the second season. GOOD LORD Hollywood loves to waste money on trite, overly-tread white dude’s stories… Imagine if they’d invested that kind of money, (hell, half or a third) in NK Jemison’s writing, or Butler’s… *smdh*

Every time I think I am finally being regular with my practice, either a really bad period or something out of the blue will knock me off for a couple of weeks and somehow I am back to square one again.

I'll beg your pardon if this is something personal, but I thought I might offer a little reassurance.

Every witch....every single one....goes through this. We all have times where we can manage a regular practice and everything seems to be going smoothly. And then life will intervene, illness will happen, things will be busy with work or school, or maybe our mental health won't be in the best place, and witchcraft will fall by the wayside for a time.

Try returning to the things that originally inspired you. Make a witchy playlist for your down days. Wear that special jewelry or that cute witchy outfit without waiting for a special occasion. Weave witchcraft into your everyday routine so that you can do it with little to no effort. Find magic in small things as well as big ones.

The important thing to remember is to be patient and be kind to yourself. Try not to get frustrated or discouraged, and whatever you do, don't give up. Things will turn around again. They always do.

And you are STILL a witch, no matter if you practice every single day or just intermittently when you can manage it. Everyone has to take breaks now and again. The craft will be waiting when you find your groove again.

Hope this helps!

I am absolutely relieved to be writing again, especially now that I’m back to short stories after finishing that novel. That being said, this witch-MILF story is already taking on a life of its own and much longer than I imagined.

me: MA’AM?? HELLO? we’re not even to the second act yet.

story: *Will Graham voice* this is my design.

goddammit

IT WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THIS LONG?? And the child is only 5 so far??? Like, there are 13 more years to cover in this story and I had no intention of writing a novel.

like, I guess sometimes if you turn the faucet off for a few months, once you turn it on again it’s like a flood. What the fuck am I gonna do with this beast.

you know when you start making a doodle in your math notebook and then it accidently turns into a masterpiece? well

I’m debating between the titles: Mother of the Chosen One or First Born

it’s a lesbian urban fantasy story that’s a riff on the fairy tale where a woman promises her first born child to a witch in exchange for something. The twist is that when the witch comes the mom convinces her to wait another year. and then another. and then it’s kind of like joint custody.

The second part of the story is just dealing with Your Daughter as the Chosen One trope.

So i was reading one of sy mongomery's books recently and she talkes about how wolf spiders can see the moon. Can a lot of insects, like, not see her?

I’ll tell you a secret: most arthropod eyes are incredibly shitty.

they may have a near-360-degrees of view, but most insects eyes simply aren’t on the same level as yours, and it’s because of physics!

see, each of those individual bumps on those eyes up there is a convex lens, which focuses light onto a retina to form a picture of their surroundings.

however, the power of a lens dramatically decreases the smaller it is, because small lenses capture less light to make into an image!

to these animals, the world is a brightly colored blur that extends out for a few feet around them, and ends there. so no, they CANNOT see the moon. weep for them.

to insects, humans have god-level foresight and prescience! HOW DID YOU KNOW THERE WAS FOOD OVER THERE, HUMAN. TELL ME HOW.

but some spiders are different.

see that? those eyes are completely smooth! jumping spiders in particular have developed eyes with a single massive (for a bug) lens on the outside, and a second focusing lens on the inside, giving them single-image vision much like your own.

the diagram of their eyes looks like a pair of binoculars, and their focusing power is completely nuts, enough so to make up for that underpowered lens!

so yes, some spiders CAN see the moon! take solace in this fact.

You know, I keep saying Bridgerton is not good, but then I'm like:

-consent

-female pleasure

-lots of PoC main characters who are in positions of power, or are the most desirable, etc.

-gay representation

-good sibling relationships

-more bare male asses than female nipples

-beautiful costumes

-good soundtrack

And like, fuck. This show has done so many things right. And discussing it with a friend, she said:

I feel we are conditioned to think anything geared to women is not "actually" good. Or it's fluff etc.

And she's so right. Why am I so hesitant to admit I really like the show? Why am I embarrassed? It even made me cry once.

So fuck it, I'm gonna own that I like the show. I'm hooked. I'm gonna watch next season.

And I'm probably going to rewatch the sex montage set to a string quartet version of Taylor Swift's "Wildest Dreams" (one of my fave Taylor songs) that includes a man going down on a woman on a library ladder. Fuck, a library big enough to need a ladder and your man going down on you? Hell yeah.
