My entry to The Aussie Artist's 30K followers contest over on instagram, to create a Convergent or Regional form changing the pokemon types according to this format

I choose to change the TYRANITAR's line Rock type for Bug

Changing TYRANITAR's line from Rock to Bug was kind of an obvious choice since both LARVITAR and PUPITAR already had "Larvae" and "Pupa" in their names, the only challenge was to turn TYRANITAR itself into a bug

LARVITAR (Bug/Ground) is based on a Thorn Bug, I choose this due to their similar looking bodies and colors,

PUPITAR (Bug/Ground) is not really based in any particular cocoon or pupa, even tho there are several species with spiky cocoons out there

KATYRANITAR (Bug/Dark) s the regional evolution of this line, it is based on the Armored Katydid or Armored Bush Cricket, a type of giant predator katydid from Africa. This bug fitted TYRANITAR perfectly as it is the "armor pokemon".

KATYRANITAR legs are actually really long but remain folded most of the time. Due to its large size, hoping would be too hard, so they only use them in very specific situations, like pouncing over a prey from a long distance, or getting away quickly from a fight with a larger member of their species, as they are cannibals.

*dark shadowed closeup of eyes* Can't say yes because that's not funny. If I say no then it is an invitation for someone to create a parody blog. If someone creates a parody blog then I will be able to banter with them, but if shit goes south I may be culpable for any fallout. Do I make a quip about how Boottea sounds like booty? No, far too pedestrian. Do I invent a false backstop and run with the joke? No, I will fall flat. I could ignore the question, but I do like the creativity and think it needs to be rewarded with an engaging response. Am I overthinking this? Should I just leave it? No, then they will know I had nothing. I cannot quit now. It is no longer about the response itself: its about sending a message. So, what message do I send? Something relatable, which sidesteps an actual response. A meme, perhaps. Something that says, "I'm awkward, but in a self-aware way". Jesus, I am overthinking. This is probably how a death note character would plan a tumblr response. Wait

*dark shadowed view of figure sitting in chair* hmmm… I’ll need to take a new approach. Despite the traps I’ve set, teaboot still seems to make his posts funny. How is he doing it? Where is he hiding? He knows that I know, surely. He’s lying in wait while I make my move so that he can make a better joke. Of course, he knows just saying yes would be too on the nose… but saying no would lead me right to him. Of course, if he leads me right to him, he will be forced to banter for the sake of the bit. However, this could take a more sinister turn and he’ll end up being cancelled by TERFs again. How long will he take to make his move? Is he overthinking things? Am I overthinking things? Is there any of that red velvet cake left? What will you do, teaboot? I will find you, and I will stop your tomfoolery. I am Justice.

ah, so they've finally revealed themselves. What now? Continue the roles as they've been set, at the risk of being cringe? No, cringe is dead. But, ah, is that settling for the easy path? Simple, expected, predictable- too predictable. This game begun on the pretense that I am light yagami, Kira, methodical and meticulous in my planning. If I am to defeat this foe, I must move beyond Kira, beyond the script that we two set. Become jarring, impulsive, absurd, and make a move that the real Kira would never make. Yes, that's it-!

I don't think Reddit gets enough credit for how hilariously buckwild the subreddit system is.

Like it makes sense on the surface. The subreddits are all topic-focused independent message boards, each with their own moderator teams, and you can curate which ones show up on your feed. Subscribe to the ones that suit your interests and bam you're good.

Except the question of WHO is in charge of every subreddit is an objectively hilarious system. Anyone can create a subreddit. Under any name. Who holds the keys to the kingdom is strictly determined by whoever managed to camp the name first. It's like tumblr URL wars except if whoever managed to grab the URL "homestuck" got to be defacto in charge of the entire homestuck fandom.

Or at least they get to be in charge until they anger the populace and get ousted, Julius Caesar style, by the team of fellow moderators they brought aboard, or until they voluntarily sign the deed over because they don't want to deal with 600,000 angry homestuck fans every single day, or they get mutinied against and all the REAL homestuck fans flock over to "curatedhomestuck" or "homestuckcirclejerk" or "homestuckcirclejerkcirclejerk".

You get seemingly benign subreddits about things like baking or kittens that have absolutely batshit rules because the whole thing is being run by a paranoid and power-hungry 23-year-old from Arkansas. You get inter-subreddit beef where the mods of r/cutekittensdoingcutethings will ban you from their subreddit because you have a history of posting in r/genshinimpact. You get subreddits that fall to ruin and spam because the moderators in charge vanished into the night without passing power along to anyone else.

Redditors love to complain about Reddit moderators and this surprises me not at all because there is simply no possible way that the Reddit moderation system could be a smooth-running machine when its defining underlying mechanic is First Come First Serve. And that's hilarious to me. That's hilarious. Political system where the King is chosen from among the populace of people who comment "first" on Youtube videos. You can't beat that.

Turns out the knife was cursed

“I pick up the knife” is now a mini-meme among my party and obviously it just means “I did something impulsive and now it’s going to take two sessions to solve.”

“I pick up the knife” saga continues because listen we can sit around failing investigation checks all day or we could play d&d
