One of my favorite things about doing zoo work was all the noises you never realize the animals make when they’re excited or interested in a new thing. Coatimundis squeak and snuffle, and giant porcupines make that sound.

I can't resist. I collect too many concepts to not say anything. So originally her hair color was blonde. They changed this real quickly due to the vocal outrage the fandom had. I also believe part of the reason to change her hair color from blonde to red was to reference her original concept design which had red hair. The renlings were also originally going to have green hair but that was also quickly scrapped due to public outrage. What a shame. Would have loved to see jade green hair on the renlings but that's just the art nerd in me loving the complimentary color aspect and the contrast. I get the distaste, however. I still do wish they had that third color to really break up their design, even if it wasn't green. Also, fun fact, there was a very period of time where Lady Dragon had green hair however she was never released in full detail with green hair because of the backlash with the renlings. I wonder if the yellow hair with a near green tint was just them quickly fixing it because the fans hated the green on the renlings so much, not really realizing that it made kind of an ugly yellow. However, that's a theory, and most likely not true. There's no way for us to really know. However, green haired Lady Dragon made a very brief and small appearance in a small line up of Zagtoon's most popular characters and character concepts at the time. This included Ladybug, Chat Noir, Miss Rose, Rapunzel of Fairyon, Pixigirl, Melody, the Ghost Force team, Lady Butterfly, Carapace, what looks to maybe be Queen Bee, and the characters for the scrapped show Moonlight Hunters in the far back, just barely silhouettes.

In case anyone reading my blog is unaware, this is a reference to the Green Day song titled “Wake Me Up When September Ends” a song that Billie Joe Armstrong wrote following the death of his father in September of 1982 when Billie Joe was ten years old. The title of the song references his desire to sleep through September in an effort to get some emotional distance from the death of his father.

He’s since been open about the emotional difficulty of having written the song since many people now message him on October 1st to ‘wake him up’ despite the song being a memorial to his departed father.

It’s generally seen as respectful to not try to wake him up. Let him sleep and let him remember his father in peace.

man I wish people understood how much it sucks ass to be neurodivergent and trying to find the middle ground where people like/tolerate you. like, I'm either "boring" (trying to wait my turn in conversations, holding space for other people, taking a back seat to let others get some spotlight) or "too much" (too loud/talking too much, getting excited to share, trying to participate in group conversations/activities). No one really talks about how much of being neurodivergent is just sort of trying to make yourself palatable.

I feel like so much of my life has been spent trying to find this effortless sort of middle ground everyone else seems to automatically already know, and I'm always swinging too far one way or the other. I'm lucky to have neurodivergent friends who grok me, but goddamn I wish that I could just like, exist without the constant background script in my brain that's like "you're being too loud. You're not talking enough. you're being self-centered. you're being boring. you're wrong, you're wrong, you're wrong." I feel like I'm back in high school trying to make friends but stuck as the eternal "weird kid"
