I live for agender Odo (from Star Trek Waypoint, 2017).

I looked it up and this is Kira going “I can’t do this mother/daughter pilgrimage thing because my mom died during the occupation”, and then everyone’s immediately like “I’LL BE YOUR SYMBOLIC MOM” I’m crying??? and need to read Star Trek comics maybe??????????

a family can be *squints; counts* 8 moms of varying race, gender, and solidity, and their symbolic daughter

@esrah-rah-rasputin messaged me with this and was like “wouldn’t quark wear this??” and he OBVIOUSLY WOULD but they weren’t going to post it so here

the original outfit, titled Big Boy, is by Yinka Shonibare:

A little cursed, but I can’t get this out of my head: why does the DS9 fandom sleep on Weyoun/Damar? I’m asking because if you look at the biggest ships in the fandom across various sites, it seems like usually fans and the actors ship the same things…? Like, Garashir has been shipped by the two characters’ actors all along, as has Quodo (effusively), and I’ve seen Kiradax being shipped by the actresses as well… and all three are popular pairings… but then, Jeffrey Combs and Casey Biggs have also been shipping their characters together intensely since they were on set and yet fans don’t seem to take note of it!

Here’s the actors explaining that they’ve always thought of the dynamic as a famous bickering married couple from pop culture:

Also Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers for some reason???

These autographs also exist:

Now, I get that this ship isn’t supported by canon whatsoever, but like, let’s be real here. There were plenty of episodes in DS9, especially in the late seasons where Weyoun and Damar made their debut, that really go against fan-favorite ships (Garashir fans like myself still are devastated by how that ship ends up, after all). Usually, I see people ship things based more on potential that the writers didn’t explore. And Combs’s and Biggs’s favorite moments from playing Damar and Weyoun seem to have been the bickering between the two characters. The actors also have a dynamic that if translated to their characters, could easily inform a courtship (especially a Cardassian one), right?

…For all I know, maybe everybody in this fandom learned about this long ago and simultaneously agreed to never explore it for whatever reason, but I couldn’t help but wonder lol

Here are some other instances I didn’t include in this post originally—there’s no real way to get shippier than literally performing Romeo and Juliet, but…

Apparently, Jeffrey Combs (Weyoun) as Juliet was very appreciated!

Both actors think of their characters as an inseparable unit.

In this interview, done to promote the meet and greet the actors had with fans earlier this year, both Combs and Biggs make some… interesting lurid jokes. At the beginning of the interview, they talk about having “social intercourse” with each other and the two of them plus the host elaborate in detail from there and you know what, I’m not going to type out exactly what was said! It’s too cursed! Then, near the close of the interview, they explain how the person who tipped the most would get a solo conversation with them, and refer to it as a “threesome” with them.

Like Kiradax and Garashir, this ship ended up in the DS9 documentary materials as well. A little bit, anyway. In the same thought bubble segments in which Kiradax is brought up by the characters’ actresses, there is Combs thinking about Biggs teasing him and the incredibly cursed thing Biggs imagines in which he is sitting next to Combs. There’s some cutesy playing around with the two of them in the ending musical number as well.

The parody character songs they sing in the Star Trek Rat Pack performances reference Weyoun’s and Damar’s relationship, too. I laughed so hard when I heard Combs sing as Weyoun, “Damar’s my bitch, he does what I tell him to!” Hard to see in this video, but it’s also hilarious to see Combs flip Biggs off when he sings that Damar “never really liked Weyoun” as well.

On a more serious note, in every interview, Biggs and Combs incorrectly remember Weyoun informing Damar that his family has been executed when that isn’t actually what occurs. It also seems like they were pretty shocked to discover Damar even had a wife and child when they were working on the show:

(The writers sure were flying by the seats of their pants, huh?)

Overall, the actors are really invested in this relationship!
