hot artists don't gatekeep

I've been resource gathering for YEARS so now I am going to share my dragons hoard

Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.

Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.

Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.

Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.

SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.

SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.

Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.

Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.

Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.

Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.

Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.

Of course! There are a few worldbuilding elements that I need to talk about that'll help you flesh stuff out, so they'll come in their own posts, but for the TL;DR I'll give you base guidelines here:

  • The ratio of bugformers to beastformers in Thalamhan is 12:1. The more common the bug, the more common the type of bugformer. All beastformers in Thalamhan are off of animals that you would find in the woods, the most common among that subset being animals that burrow.
  • All Thalamites love sweet things. Their diet is a hyper-sweet form of energon, so normal cybertronian energon would be flat and basic to them. They can also eat and drink the fruits, nuts, and nectars that grow from the plants in the planet's flora-coated caverns. They would hate anything salty.
  • Cloth is a status symbol, so the rarer the cloth you have, the wealthier you are. The same goes for jewelry, with aristocrats covering themselves in them. Ununtrium jewelry is the most valuable of all. Common Thalamites usually don't have either, though some can afford inexpensive items.
  • Thalamhan has been isolated from the rest of the galaxy for so long that none of its citizens know what Cybertron or any of its colonies are. For all they know, they're the only cybertronian-esq species out there. Thalamites don't have access to space travel either, so no one has ever left the planet. (No one has been recorded, at least...)
  • Most Thalamites are artists, writers, tailors, cooks, farmers, musicians, miners, smiths, and botanists, just to name a few. Upper-class jobs are more STEM-based: including scientists, engineers, astronomers, and doctors. There are more jobs than these, but these are the most common.
  • Thalamhan's technology isn't as advanced as Cybertron's! Imagine old-fashioned computer systems and less automation. A regular Thalamite would have simple tech, retro to a normal Cybertronian. However, Thalamhan's military technology is comparable to Cybertron's, though still weaker. The one advantage they have is the planet's source of ununtrium, which sparingly coats their weapons.
  • On the topic of weapons - guns and blasters don't exist in Thalamhan! Cannons do, but most weapons are exclusively blades and other medieval weapons. That technology might be on its way in the near future, however...

Popular opinion: at some point in your sad nerdy youth, you all had a Transformers OC that met some, if not all, of these:

  • A femme.
  • A bot that transformed into an animal.
  • A bot who solely served to fuck a main character and “change them for the better.”
  • A Decepticon.
  • A Neutral bot who was formerly a ‘Con, or a neutral who had a “fuck the war” attitude.
  • A Seeker (someone who could fly idek).
  • A lovechild of some unrealistic tf ship, which oddly makes sense to a lot of people and you love wayyyy too much because archenemies are deliciously homoerotic *cough* Megop *cough*

Extra points if you are still in fact encompassing your sad nerdy youth ;)
