I made this and showed it to a friend. She said I should post it, so here we are.

It wasn’t until 1951 that Canada removed the ban on Indigenous ceremonial practices with the amending of the Indian Act.

The US also finally removed their ban on Indigenous religion with the creation of American Indian Religious Freedom Act in 1978.

These years are not so far away from our current reality. We are still feeling the effects of genocide.

We, Indigenous people, are strong. We will revive. We will reflect. We will carry our culture in our hearts.

Those who came from a traditional family despite the scrutiny from lateral violence and white people… It is definitely a blessing to have that knowledge of traditions.

Those who didn’t grow up in a traditional family, it’s okay. Colonialism tried their hardest to take away something from you, but it was imbedded in you that can never be stripped. Hold your heart, that is where your ancestors are.

now that having basically any image in your posts places you at risk of getting flagged for “sensitive content” by the new algorithms, we’re just going have to start posting our reaction images in text format
