I had a dream about a romance novelist named gerta greer who wrote in ?? Dutch maybe?? and a couple of her novels were translated in the 90s but didn't achieve success in the US market at the time but she kept writing and they had recently been rediscovered and become cult classics and her newer work was getting translated. that's not the important part of the dream. the important part was the concept of these novels
basically the series was about a witch who got a new magical boyfriend every book and added him to her polycule but every page of every book was color coded by which boyfriend was present. so you could flip through the book and be like "damn... edwin the wood elf sure shows up a lot in this one for someone who's not even on the cover" or "ok like half of this book has rupert the werewolf and boris the half-yeti together and I've always wanted them to interact" gacha games will often tell you which characters are going to be in the story but do you think books should start doing it too
