seeing a decent number of discourse going on around the most recent good art / bad art post and I do want to note (if not particularly at anyone) that, "good art is objective and is thus" is sketchy yes, but I see it recognized far too little that attempts — yes, rarer but also yes, extant — of trying to invert it into an opposite emotional duty of "good art makes you feel weird, mocks values, enfeebles life" etc wtfever is even sketchier
if someone wants to enjoy (or in some other valence spend time on?) scammy resentful unstructured art, eh no water off my back by itself, but you're absolutely the fuck not getting that right if you're not also granting the rest of us the right to enjoy instinctively empowering & beautiful art. It even will seem to me that you might be just making your lifes miserable on purpose; but again, it's your life, none of my business as long as you're staying the fuck off & not trying to force disgusting misery-porn garbage on me.
moreover: the one time when any of this difference between different people's art preferences has to involve tension is, of course, when it comes time to recommend things to others; and this is the reason why the notion of "The Canon" is the load-bearingly bad part of any of the naïve good art criteria. trying to insist that any surface features at all would be Objectively True traits of Good Art which have to be enforced already gives shit results always

as a teen I was such an expert gaslighter it's insane one time a friend sent me a prank file saying it was an Ocarina of Times rom hack. It shut down my computer while we were on Skype. Now the thing is, my connection was shite and I was known to disconnect out of nowhere already. When I got back up, instead of acting angry or anything I thanked him and said that it was fucking amazing. I even shared screen and it showed a completely black screen because of course, I'm a black cat with technologies and it wasn't the first time either. The guy was trying to convince me I was pranked so fucking hard and I was like "...no???? It's literally just a game?????" and he ended up opening the file himself to see what was up, shutting down his computer

I would say probably 500 based on counting to 100, seeing how much space that was, then multiplying by how many times I've used up that amount of space.
Did a rough count for I think the first time and I got up to ~160, probably skipped a whole bunch that were not visible behind others
and I guess "no textbooks" could in spirit rule this out it, but then add to this just a smidge under 200 pieces of professional / research literature at my office, which I do keep a spreadsheet of, by virtue of which I voted in the 200+ bin

oh haha those sure are skill graphs, couple interesting symmetries too. what are the "rings" of plus sign nodes? can you like use those to shuttle your way into a different part of the tree without doing their base prereqs?
