Just unearthed some Pink Diamond drawings back from when her model sheet was being made... Superstar Colin asked me to do a couple drawings of her for some ideas about her face/eyes I think. This was all such a big secret that I completely forgot about this until just now...lol.

Here are some of the drawings from the episode ‘Your Mother and Mine’ of Steven Universe. The challenge was to depict the highly stylized fairytale of Rose’s time on Earth. In keeping with ‘The Answer’, the Lotte Reiniger/Shoujo influences were integral, but this time I wanted to lean more into dramatic pans and layouts. Though I was initially worried about maintaining the audience’s interest for 5 minutes without any facial expressions, I think it ended up so beautiful thanks to the always incredible music and backgrounds by Elle Michalka.
Here are some of the drawings I did from the episode “Back to the Kindergarten” from Steven Universe. I really adore this episode, and had a lot of fun drawing the interactions between Peridot, Steven and Amethyst.
When you’re going through something, it can be so tempting to wallow and obsess alone (which Paul captured so brilliantly in that scene of Peridot in the bathroom)--but when friends drag you out of it to have a good time, it can be so helpful and beautiful. This is something I’ve related to and have been very grateful for, and I feel very lucky to have been able to storyboard something like this. Thanks so much for watching!

I love Zircon!!! Rebecca, Colin, Paul and I all jammed on her, with the final design by Colin. I think Rebecca said something once about how the gems should get progressively cartoonier the closer you get to Homeworld, so I’m glad we ended up on something in the vein of Capcom/Ace Attorney designs with her. Loved working on this episode with the incredible Paul Villeco, and was completely knocked out by the powerful BG color work by Elle Michalka and music by Aivi + Surasshu. One of my favorite episodes to be apart of during my many years on this show.

I’ve collected all of my findings into a single, very legitimate looking book, so that everyone can know the truth about my hometown of Beach City! Finally, my legacy is protected for the ages. Even if a giant solar flare wipes out all of the world’s computers - MY BLOG WILL SURVIVE!
Writing this book was a monumental task. It took me countless hours of slacking off at work to compile all of my writings, illustrations and far-flung theories into one place. I did have a little help from some fellow truth-stigators I met on a Koala Princess forum, Ben Levin and Matt Burnett, but most of the work was definitely done by ME!

the zoo
i had SO much fun working on the zoo episode of steven universe with katie. when we first got the episode we were talking a lot about how the zoo is supposed to be this kind of utopia. a good good friend of mine told me about a quote from…uh…someone…about how utopias usually have something/someone missing, or that you should look for what’s not there in these settings. with that in mind i wanted to make the zoomans (zoo humans) as varied and diverse as possible. here are some initial sketches + a few board drawings.
oh! i also got to voice Y6 which was really fun! it was also tiring because he’s so energetic lol! thanks for watching!
