I genuinely was anticipating a big sweeping romantic kiss and the fact that we didn’t - that we got the comforting cuddle and a focus on Nate’s very vulnerable expression - just confirms this scene wasn’t just about Nate’s relationship with Jade and how much he cares for her and doesn’t want to cheat on her. (Although that’s awesome too.) The guy clearly needs a moment of being looked after - this isn’t just an ‘I came to spend time with you because I love you!’ moment, so much as it’s a ‘This situation is bad and it’s worse than I thought and the person I thought was amazing whose validation I’ve been hanging my hat on for so long is actually a sleazy prick and I fucked up and there are tough choices just barrelling down the road in my future’ moment.

All I’m saying is yes, I’m painfully invested in Nate/Jade but also NATE REFORMATION ARC.
