So cool to see you still around, I was super inspired by your animations back in the day and im looking into finding a uni to attend for animation now :] whats it like working as an animator and in an animation studio? is it everything younger you dreamed it would be and more? (also ur old portal animation is making the rounds on twitter)

I'm glad I could inspire you!! Good luck! :]

I do enjoy working in animation. I really can't imagine doing anything else. It can be tiring or frustrating sometimes, but ultimately I get to do what I love every day.

Ah, really. I kind of wish people would just leave the Splash-era stuff alone at this point. But I guess I'm glad that those animations made people happy.

Not really an ask but wow i didn't realize till today you're still around on the internet, I used to love your videos so much as a kid its what inspired me to start creating my own characters and that grew into a huge part of my life up until this very day. Thank you so much! I don't think I'd be the same person I am now without your work. Also, I've taken a look at your new stuff and I'm blown away with the improvement, you're really talented! I hope you have a great day sarah 🫶

Haha, yep, I'm still here. I'm glad I could inspire you! Thank you so much! :]

Just wanted to add my part in thanking you for being one of the people who inspired me, with those YouTube videos, back when I was a pre-teen/teen to follow my heart and dreams of becoming an artist/author/content creator! I'm over 25 now and I feel ancient at times, but I am grateful for people like you, who had the courage to put their art out in the world, when they were much younger. My young self did not want to listen and thought only "real jobs" are worth persuing and being passionate about, if you know what I mean. XD Takes me a bit longer but I am on my way to getting where I want to be in my life. Thank you so much for being apart of it!

Oh I do get what you mean, I have hangups about my job being dumb and silly at times haha...but I think if I can make people happy, that's worth something. I'm glad I could inspire you to do creative things! :]

Those dinos are so cute! Do you mind if I use them as WhatsApp stickers? I wouldn't share them with anyone, or anywhere...

Avatar

I'm glad you like them!

I'm not familiar with whatsapp stickers, does that just mean you would send them like reactions/emojis? I'm okay with that as long as you aren't profiting off of them or anything.

Do you have a favorite invertebrate to draw? What about in general? Can be living or extinct!

I like drawing shiny and colorful things, so I find beetles particularly fun to draw. The octopus is one of my favorite animals, and has interesting shapes, so that's another I draw a lot. I like cephalopods, gastropods and arthropods in general...nautilus, trilobites, horseshoe crabs, snails, slugs, worms, spiders, crabs, jellyfish...all so very cute...oh and shrimps! I have pet cherry shrimps and I wuv them.

Hello! I know you don’t enjoy drawing Splash anymore, but would you ever consider drawing them again just as like a glow-up/for old time sakes? It’s okay if not. Also, thank you for being a huge inspiration for me growing up <3. I also wanted to say you’ve improved a ton since those old videos, which is only more inspiring. Keep up the work, you’re doing amazing!!

I have been following you for years and love your stuff, but I just found out after a random search

YOU'RE SPLASHKITTYARTIST?!?!?!?!

HIIIII!!!!!!

Dude, your animations literally got me through middle school.

Your art has improved quite a bit since those days, and I hope it continues to do so~

I just wanted to say thank you for pretty much getting me into art helping me see that my skills don't have to be Disney level to be great and to just have fun with what I draw.

I hope you have a great day/night followed by many, many more ^^

Yep...that's me...

I'm glad you like them! Thank you! :)

hello! I was a huge fan of your animations as a kid and you inspired me a lot at the time :-] I was curious and wanted to ask - what shows, games or movies (or any other media) do you enjoy nowadays?

+ your art is insanely pretty!! I especially love the sea creatures you paint 💜

I'm glad you like them! :) Thank you!!

I'm currently watching Abbot Elementary (love it) and The Last of Us. Also recently watched Chainsaw Man and Bocchi the Rock, liked them both, especially Bocchi (relatable). I also really liked All Saints Street which I saw not to long ago.

I don't watch a lot of movies, but I saw Everything Everywhere All At Once recently and I loved it a lot.

Games I'm into lately, Warframe, Outer Wilds, Hades, and Hollow Knight. Also I played Bugsnax last year and haven't stopped thinking about it since.

Some random other things...I've been reading the manga Dungeon Meshi and it's really good (FALIN IS SO CUTE, I also like Izutsumi. If you like food, fantasy, or fantasy biology this manga is great). Also in the middle of The Locked Tomb series by by Tamsyn Muir, I'm liking it so far.

hi this is probably a strange question but my dad really likes the neon tetras painting you did and hes wants me to ask how much it would be for a print of it, thanks for your time!

Avatar

I'm glad he likes it! :)

The only problem is, I didn't have printing in mind when making it, so it's not a good resolution...The biggest you could get it printed without losing quality would be about 2 by 4 inches...so...not a very nice print I think...

But, if by any chance your dad could make use of a sticker or magnet instead, I put the design up on redbubble: https://www.redbubble.com/shop/ap/141418829

Hey! I really like your animation “living doodle”

I wanted to ask how you did that effect? Is it stop motion or something else?

Thank you, have a nice day! :)

Thank you!

Not stop motion, although that's a good guess. I made it using Adobe After Effects.

I drew the snake on paper, took a photo, and cut it out in Photoshop (also made sure to put the tongue on a separate layer so it could be animated):

I also took a photo of some lined paper for the background.

Then, I used After Effect's puppet tool to make the snake follow a path (I think this is the tutorial I used: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8biAwem4jeA ). I also used masks to get the snake to appear to travel under the lines of the paper. I got it to look more like stop motion by applying an effect called turbulent displace, which slightly alters how the snake looks each frame, as well as lowering the frame rate.

Hi, wanted to ask you something about using your art since I didn't see anything in the faq. I stumbled across your honkdra gif somewhere on the internet and ended up using it as a header. Now that I found out it came from you, figured I should check to see if that's ok. Have a good day!

Thanks for asking! Yes, you can use it if you credit me, please include a link to my page (or the post) somewhere in your description/about/pinned post/whatever. Thanks!
