sometimes this is a star trek blog and sometimes it is a blog for a 173 minute long space opera musical with only 11 songs

narratively I am a fan of romances that don’t ever actually become romances

I don’t mean in an aromantic life partner way, I mean romantic tension that is never resolved or acted upon for whatever reason but by the end it’s clear that both characters experienced the love of their lives without ever acknowledging it as such. but they know. they know.

maybe the unbridgeable gulf between them is culture, or class, or religion, or maybe their chief commitment is to something other than each other. maybe they decide it’s more important to keep the peace than to risk the complications of a relationship. maybe they’re just weary of change and content with things the way there are because it’s simpler that way. for whatever reason nothing is ever consummated between them, emotionally or physically.

I love that kind of quiet tragedy.

Other people having half Human half Vulcan children and Spock just receiving emails from the panicked parents he’s never met like “are their medical readings supposed to look like this???”

“I’m not a damn pediatrician, Spock” *proceeds to give them all the most helpful medical advice they’ll ever receive* *ends up pioneering half human-half Vulcan children’s medicine* *becomes known as the expert on the subject*

"Fully functional" "programmed with a variety of techniques" yeah yeah but what about what Data wants. Yes the robot can fuck you but would you fuck the robot back. If he wanted to be hooked up to a car battery would you do that for him

New Jersey just passed a law that doubles the legal involuntary psych hospitalization hold time from 72 hours to 144 hours. They're claiming that there is a psychiatric bed shortage, and saying that this will help link more people to care.

This law is dangerous, harmful to mad/mentally ill/neurodivergent people, and will cause more psychiatric trauma. I'm incredibly worried about the way politicians are weaponizing the concept of "mental health crises" and "bed shortages" to pass laws that increase incarceration. Psych survivors can tell you that any time spent psychiatrically incarcerated is too long, but these extensions from 3 days to 6 days will have dramatic impacts on people's wellbeing. There are people who will now lose their job because they missed 6 days off work, have to arrange childcare for 6 days, miss an entire week of school, who spend days in solitary confinement, go through repeated strip searches, go through withdrawal, and deal with the everyday violence of psychiatric hospitalization for that much longer. It is crucial that we fight against any policies that give more power and authority to the psych system, and build up alternative systems of care based in values of mad liberation/psych abolition, autonomy, and disability justice.

We deserve care, not confinement.

someone added tags pointing out that for most psych holds, weekends do not count. So under the old system, if you came in on a Friday night, you might not get out until Wednesday. Under a new system, you might be held there for 8 days before even getting to court proceedings.

Silly color pallete challenge that i did with my friend!! They picked a random set of colors and let me draw whatever i wanted (big mistake) so of course i unleashed my brainrot and drew a very purple Mr. Spock :-D!

God this is so real

The difference between someone who discourses on tumblr about shipping all day and someone in 1785 who sat in a pub pumping out asinine pamphlets about the hill they're going to die on in a parasocial fight they've started with Burke or Rousseau or whoever over the dumbest drama you've ever heard is absolutely miniscule. nonexistent even. brothers in arms seperated by centuries

What I love most about Gandalf big naturals is how much it eases my chest dysphoria. I can sleep without a shirt on now because of Gandalf Big Naturals. Knowing that the artist made the original image while recovering from top surgery and said the image was like a final parting gift from their boobs makes me feel even better about the image's effect on me. Men with big naturals makes me feel much more good about my body than those old posts on here that were like "trans men! Some men have pecs!!! So don't feel dysphoric <3". It's much more meaningful to see a hairy, bearded man with a huge H cup rack not letting his tits get in the way of his masculinity.

Most of all, Gandalf Big Naturals helped me love my body the way it is instead of hating something that's a part of me. Of course I still want top surgery but the fact that I can live with my own big naturals until then without wanting to guillotine them off is really important.
