Verity by Colleen Hoover, sort of review.
Warning:- It contains SPOILERS.
Last night I finished listening to it on Audible.
Well, what can I say.
I think cover of verity is perfect depiction of what author wants to convey. Everyone has two sides to their personality and in general it's even true for humans. A dark side as well as white one. Most of people always walks on grey spectrum but few them crosses that line and wants to go to that dark unknown place that when they crossed it they themselves don't realise it. So there is always a thin line. But there is always a choice.
There are three main characters Jeremy, Verity and Lowen.
Even though, Lowen was the narrator I think we don't know a lot about her. Her character in beginning was made to be mysterious like she had her own secrets and along the way I was hopping for author to reveal something creepy about her past. But well you'll know about her when you read it. I find her impressionable and some what naive, may be that's what only I will describe her. I think that because in the beginning she had different pov and towards the end she became something else. She's introvert. I think she judges people too soon. Although, I would have loved if author was able to show more of her background.
Then there is Verity. The author through and through. I don't really know what to exactly think about her character. We know a lot about her yet in my opinion we hardly knew about her. Well, whatever amount of her we knew was incomplete. She's total mystery yet not. I say, she's completely a true writer that means she was only a writer and took her career too seriously. In the whole book she was portrayed as the villain but in the end you think you know everything yet you don't. Yeah, I mean whoever reads this will always think she's the nut case but in thrillers it not what you think it is. To me she was layered person. I am not saying this because I like to justify dark characters, no not at all. Even many people who read the book would not agree with me but I think she made all of that about her manuscript. Yes lots of events occur same as that in the book as well as in the biography but I always will think there is more to her. She might have gone somewhat dark but I don't buy as that is shown by Colleen for her character. She might just wanted to write from villain pov for her own novel series that is why she's done what she had done. But again there is possibility that she has written exactly she was. You will never know and always has to guess that about her. But she's mystery and I like that about her.
Jeremy is next on my list. He's one of the main characters. People who like good looking handsome and sex on legs would love him and few of you love him because he is "good guy". Well he was portrayed as good BF, a good husband, a good father. Yeah a lots of good. He used to be a realtor and at one time used to run his own company as he had a business degree. Oh, how can I forgot he is good lover in bed too. Yeah too much good right. Before last two chapters he is portrayed as a guy everyone would love to have on their life. He is somewhat introvert bit I think he's is more of ambivert, as described by Lowen earlier in the book. He sometimes has no problem in expressing his feelings of grief, which is rare for male species. What I think, we hardly see the real character of Jeremy, it's always how Verity and Lowen portrayed him. We hardly see his back story too. I don't think I consider him by far the best male character but I still like the way he was shown in the ending. Lowen had feirce connection to always protect him from his "evil wife". At the beginning he was a mystery and I guess towards the end he still is. The ending was pretty open. So everyone one will have their own perception regarding him. I think he became the manipulator. I think he planned to meet Lowen the first time, or at least he knew about her. He himself says he was the one who read her book and not his wife. So he's the one who wanted Lowen to complete Verity's work. Like Correy(on and off guy in relationship with Lowen), who said about how he fell for Lowen through her characters the same might apply for Jeremy here. He certainly has the means to know about Lowen before bringing her to his home. Even at the end it was hinted by Verity how he knew about the manuscript before Lowen. How he tried to kill Verity before. So I certainly can see a guy who planned a lot of events happening before Lowen's entry. I think he even planned the murder. May be Verity damaged him but I don't think so that it is okay to justify your life's crises for a murder. Well it is just my opinions. Everyone has them.
Overall, I liked the book it's great, especially the ending. I like the theme of the book.

Being Indian and vegetarian I love Paneer. My soul food. Makes every dish super delicious. But I have asthma and it's very limited for people like me. But I always missed it and used to bug my mom to cook it even on my worst days, specially on my worst days.
I was tall and always bigger than other kids in school. Teacher also sometimes used to make fun of me as I was fat too. In high school I developed eating disorder and by the time I gained my post graduation I was under weight. Trust me after truck load of therapy I still push myself so hard on my power yoga and cardio if I ate just a spoon of my favorite ice cream.
