What we learned last time
So, what we learned last time is that you shouldn’t reward your kids’s negative behavior by punsihing them into using the console or tablet for a while.
Your kid will see this as a reward and will use it the next time they want to play on their piece of technology.
This doens’t mean however, that you shouldn’t reward them at all. Rewards are still the best incentive you can give a child and they work so much better then only negative stimulations.
The thing they favor most is probably a new peace of technology. So, you would be wise to use this as a gadget gift in the most prizeworthy of situations that your child may encounter.
In a very, very special situation. And I can’t stress very enough in this context because it will raise your childs’expectations of rewards for good behavior. In a very special situation you may reward them with a large and or expensive gift like this. Maybe for their good grades at the end of a year, maybe for their excellent behavior during a long long car trip on vacation (so they can use the tablet on their trip as well) or maybe for a swimming diploma or some such thing.
A special achievement deserves specials attention, and this sort of gift giving will do just that.
