May I ask what Uma's wearing on her front legs?

We've got a horse at home who's insistent on always injuring the exact place those 'socks' cover on Uma, so I'm seeing possibilities 👀

Aha yes those are her new "bedsore boots". I actually had no idea these existed before asking people on Tumblr a few years back, when I was getting desperate seeing Uma always getting injured in the exact same spot on the front of her fetlocks.

People on Tumblr told me to look for bedsore boots. I had never seen anything like it in France, and as it happens I can only find them in the US. Shipping is expensive but I don't have a choice, without them she cuts her fetlocks deep and it's a bitch to heal.

She's actually currently recovering from quite a deep cut she did to herself because I waited too long to replace her previous boots and they were not holding up anymore.

That's precisely the problem I have with Vana too - I think she keeps kicking something, but her stall is basically baby-proofed by now and despite that we never go more than a few weeks before new cuts. I've been using upside-down bell boots but those are... Obviously not ideal 🤣

The bedsore boots you have don't chafe when it's very dusty or very muddy? And they don't overheat?

They're a bit of an investment, but if they can be worn comfortably for longer stretches of time they might be worth it 🤔

Uma wears them 24/7 and apart from a little bit of sweating underneath on hot summer days, I've had no issues with them, no rubbing or chaffing. You might find some dirt underneath, but it still protects the fetlock from getting injured. The best thing is to have 2 pairs, so you can swap them up when you need to wash a pair.

I have less of an overview on the new model since I've only had it for a month, but they seem robust.

Yes it's an investment, but this is what Uma looked like basically everyday before I got them. So they could be 200$, I'd still buy them.

You might find the 2nd product I posted on Etsy - my problem was that there was no shipping to France. Those used to be cheaper than the ones I have now - and if you're in the US, you might be able to order them.
