And like, intersex people. Pls start including us in this kind of stuff.
that post that's like "okay but she did utilise girl power what happened to supporting women's wrongs" annoyed the fuck out of me when it was doing the rounds on here bc the original joke made by eric andre was about MARGARET THATCHER
the joke was intended to undermine that kind of wishy-washy popculture white feminism that leads to people uncritically supporting any woman in power to the point of praising and idolising war criminals and colonisers. the original joke goes "did she effectively utilise girl power when she funded illegal paramilitary death troops in northern ireland". it wasn't a fandom joke!
"You can have X and still feel empathy!" True, but the people who DON'T experience empathy don't deserve to get thrown under the bus either
"Having X doesn't mean you can't be smart!" True, but the people you WOULDN'T consider smart don't deserve to get thrown under the bus either
"Having X doesn't mean you're violent!" True, but the people who have been violent don't deserve to get thrown under the bus either
"You can have X and still take care of yourself!" True, but the people who genuinely can't don't deserve to get thrown under the bus either
"You can have X and still act normal!" True, but can you guess what I have to add about the people who CAN'T act normal?
Because if your activism is all about trying to separate your personal self from ableist dehumanization instead of actually challenging said dehumanization, your activism really sucks!
i'm regularly astounded by the cognitive dissonance some of yall have to accept that gender is a social construct with infinite possibilities with the capacity to be deeply personal and individual but still think there's a list of like 4 acceptable sexual orientations and if you go outside of that list or mix entries on that list or relate to them in a non-traditional way not only are you Breaking The Rules you're personally directly harming people who follow them
I'd like to add:
the people who accept that gender is a social construct with infinite possibilities with the capacity to be deeply personal and individual, except for the Bad genders who either do gender wrong or are associated with the Bad Thing. to believe that gender is a construct but Also believe that someone can cause direct harm by presenting as themselves or creating something that represent people like them
Howdy everyone! It’s me Victoria asking for the last bit of help to finally be able to go to Turkey and get my teeth fixed. My teeth are extremely damaged and so the only way I can afford to get my teeth fixed is going overseas. I’m so very grateful for all the sharing and donations I’ve received so far. To be 100% ready to go for my first and then later second visit, I need about $1,974. The plan for the first visit is to go during Christmas break and once that’s done I will make sure to update with photos and such to show that this really was serious and that I used the money as I planned to. I am being very transparent about everything, and if anyone has any questions about what’s going on, I am more than willing to explain. 💗💗💗
Thanks for reading!
Because I'm only seeing other Jews posting about this, non-Jews I need you to be aware that for the past month or two there has been a wave of bomb threats and swattings at synagogues all across the US. They usually do it when services are being livestreamed. I haven't seen a single non-Jew talking about this. High holidays are coming up in a few weeks, which is when most attacks happen against our communities. We're worried, and we need people to know what's happening to us.
yeah

god i am always the FIRST to rally against the failures of just fighting for tolerance from straight cis ppl, but also we haven't even fucking reached tolerance yet.
we still need "We're Queer We're Here Get Used To It", because i don't know about you guys, but from what I'm seeing, they aren't fucking used to it.
we need that old school "we're your hairdressers, your teachers, your neighbors, your siblings, your friends" energy back ASAP. quietly queer isn't cutting it for me anymore. in your face dykes fag queer trans forever until i'm fucking dead.

someone should coin white queer liberation as a similar term to white feminism
like I need white queers to understand that their lack of interest in supporting queers of color isn’t a harmless thing that happens on an individual scale. It’s a pattern and phenomenon that leaves a huge number of queer people feeling isolated from their own community.
If your queer activism doesn’t include queer people of color, you’re the problem.
If you tell qpoc to stop complaining about the lack of queer characters of color because white queer rep should be enough for us, you’re the problem.
If you don’t know anything about qpoc outside of That One Activist and only value qpoc because “we gave you your rights,” you’re the problem.
If you don’t care about queer people in countries where queerness is still illegal, you’re the problem.
If your queer friend group only includes white people, you’re the problem.
If your idea of what queerness looks like only accommodates whiteness and white beauty standards, you’re the problem.
If you don’t understand how your race has contributed to centuries of harm for qpoc, or how queers like you openly and systematically exclude us from our own community in the past and present, you’re the problem.
If you throw a fit when qpoc tell you you’re not the most oppressed person in the room, you’re the problem.
If you hide behind your queerness to excuse your racism, you’re the problem.
If you can’t accept other cultures’ gender structures without trying to fit it into the Eurocentric binary, you’re the problem.
Learning about qpoc and our experiences isn’t a fun extracurricular you can do if you feel like it. It’s a core class if you truly care about queer unity and liberation.
(qpoc can add on. white people can rb without comment. do not tag as q slur.)
also I keep seeing people saying they thought richard siken was long dead. one person said they thought he was a colonial poet. quick question. what.

shoutout to everyone with forget disorders (adhd, DID/osdd, ptsd/c-ptsd, asd, dementia/alzeheimers, schizophrenia, other psychotic disorders, major depressive, chronically ill/phys disabled people with brain fog, people with long-Covid, natural memory degradation, and etc.)
Quick request for help: have basically no food (just one box of pasta left) or drink (much more concerning), Leo has food for the next few days but next to no litter, and we are not in a good way food/drink-wise. I have a colossal headache as I'm typing this.
However! It's not all bleak. :) The good news is we are so broke BECAUSE we have nearly finished jumping through every hoop we need to in order to remain housed, for at least the next year (and maybe, if we're lucky, longer). Yay!
We were required to put up a proper deposit though, which ate up what I had saved for the laptop since my current one is dead in the water (I'm using my phone rn), and what little I had left from that big job that paid me out in June.
The other bit of bad news is that said company I was freelancing with is pretty much going under and hasn't offered me a gig in months and don't have the ability to pay their freelancers currently, and I haven't been successful in finding my own clients (even with a fancy website 😔), so I need whatever help I can get for the three of us.
Working on bettering my art so I can offer commissions, and still of course offering sensitivity readings/editing services, so if you'd prefer to commission me instead of donating, please feel free.
Whether it's $1, $5, $20, or $10k (lmao could you imagine??), every little bit helps. If you're anti-P*yPal (as well we all should be), I also accept InstaCart gift cards, any amount helps. (You can send them to sa.bouraleh@gmail.com). If you're a gajillionaire and just want to buy the laptop outright from my Amazon wishlist (let me put that insane request out into the universe; nothing ventured, nothing gained!), you can do so there.
Thank you for reading. Please boost/donate if able. I love you all. 🥹 ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜💖🤍🤎🖤
