ok so everyone agrees that the events of sonic adventure 2 are contemporary to the year the game was released in right? meaning, when hearing the phrase "50 years ago" a lot of people will just think "oh they must mean the middle of the 50s" right? except NOT!!! 2001-50 is actually 1951. furthermore, it's always said the ark shut down OVER 50 yrs ago, meaning the ark massacre could only have happened pre 1951. think about it. maria might never even have lived to see the 50s. shadow likely barely got to see the new decade before being sealed away on prison island. they might never even have gotten to watch CINDERELLA!!!!

obv this is super nitpicky and i'm not like mad abt it but it's a bit, idk, jarring to see such a fandom wide misconception. this might be a telephone game situation where the information got pretty twisted along the way unfortunately. but if we're rethinking our timeline, it's very clear that the ark, project shadow etc all happened over the course of the 40s rather than the decade that came after. so, sorry, shadow couldnt have listened to elvis presley during his days on the ark (he was likely already in cryostasis by the time the dude started making music. sad)

also as a bit of trivia, maria's birth year would have been at least before 1939. can you believe my grandma wasn't even born back then? lol
