Someone breaking into an occupied home clearly intends to assault the resident, a simple burglar would break into an empty building or gtfo when confronted. and it is an obviously fascist fantasy to violently murder an 'intruder' (always parsed as: degenerate, mindlessly violent criminal that cannot be reasoned with and must be exterminated) in defense of your private property. and that is what it is for 99% of these people, a fantasy that they talk about like they want it to happen. white suburanites whipped up into a paranoid murder frenzy by watching news segments about violent crime whose dearest ambition is to blow someone's brains out to defend the sanctity of their samsung smart tv. vile!

Yeah, in the U.S. there is a huge culture and industry of (predominantly right-wing, well-off, and white) people fantasizing about hypothetical home invasion scenarios. I’ve seen these people literally express glee at the idea.

Morally, ethically, and legally, self-defense is supposed to be a proportional response to the threat presented. As a gun owner, I never want to be in the type of situation where I would need to use a gun because necessarily that situation would be a life-and-death scenario.

That being said, in the unlikely scenario that someone attempts to break into my apartment unit (that has one entrance and one exit), the first thing I am going to do is yell “get the fuck out, i have a gun.”

if communism for you is just the desirability of free stuff and not a specific politics of anti-capitalism, then you relate to it as a consumer that wants a society without limits. the russian revolution was largely animated by a violently represssed people who were sick of their children being sent to war to die in imperial rivalries that had nothing to do with them. their concern wasn't with "free shit", it was with freedom.
