Okay so like the house is built for the system in place like each of the shadow's rooms has a servants room below it. Obviously a lot of the tech and stuff is new but like unless the entire children's wing was built after the takeover the house was already built to support a system where the aristocrats rule over their servants in much the way it continues to function
Lady Katherine may have been a lot nicer than the shadows but she was still an aristocrat ruling over her servants. Did Emily have to sleep in a tiny room beneath hers?
