what farming items in mmorpgs has taught me: i used to think using ice trays to make ice cubes was free but after thinking about it i have to pay the electric bill to power the freezer so every moment that i’m not freezing new trays of ice cubes is a moment that i’m underutilizing the freezer and increasing the cost of ice cubes. i have to constantly swap out ice trays for new ice cubes on an hourly rotation on a 24 hour basis or else i won’t produce the maximum amount of ice cubes possible and will underutilize the full potential of my electric bill. i need to stop using all other appliances and utilities in my home to make more ice cubes

i’m starting to hate the frequency of pinterest as a google result more than i hate pinterest itself. listen, google, googly-mate, pinterest isn’t a fuckign source. I want the sites those pictures came from because those are the ones with information such as dates, which is the entire point of the thing I am googling.

Damn right. How the hell am I supposed to find tutorials on how to do wire work or bead weaving when the first howevermany pages of Google results are some idiot’s cluster of Pinterest collections of those tutorials?

SOMEONE ELSE HATES PINTEREST AS MUCH AS I DO

not only does it fuck with sourcing images, but you can’t even SEE the images unless you have a ~pinterest account~ which I have zero interest in acquiring; it does this so completely adorable coy little thing where it shows you half the page and then when you scroll down it goes *complicated tiresome flower emoji face* JOIN PINTEREST 2 SEE MORE! *complicated tiresome flower emoji face* and my systolic reading spikes.

and google lists individual pinterest pages as separate results, so if a picture is popular, there can be HUNDREDS of pinterest listings before you find anything you could possibly trace back to a source.

listen, all my art bros who are mad about people not sourcing art, i dig that, i agree that sourcing is important, but maybe stop saying reverse image search is easy or ‘30 seconds’ or whatever. sometimes it’s just straight up impossible because fucking pinterest ruins everything.

SUPER EASY WAY TO AVOID PINTEREST: type your query and then -pinterest

7 of the first 12 results are from pinterest

zero items from pinterest not a single one I’m free

What kind of movements can be considered as part of maladaptive daydreaming ? Ive always scratched my thumb, but idk if it's something that is common in MaDd. Thanks !

Avatar

Movement is common “82% of MDers reported engaging in repetitive movements, such as pacing, or rocking, for at least 10% of the time.”  This leaves nearly 20% of MDers who have no movement associated with their daydreaming (ED). It is theorized that “movement can increase sensory stimulation” or “facilitate a deeper, almost hypnotic-like daydream state, and make it easier to block out real world stimuli (ED).

”…pacing while listening to music by far the most frequently reported (CF).“ However, MDers participating in recent studies showed a wide range of associated movements:

“I used to ride my bike around the neighborhood” (PL)“I basically walk up and down my apartment” (PL)“Any kind of repetitive movements I find really helps” (PL)“I would be laying in bed… making kind of rocking movements” (PL)“I toss something in my hand and flap my hands.” (CF)“I rub my hands a lot as if I can feel the urge under my skin” (CF)

It’s possible you are one of the ~18% who has no particular movement and the thumb scratching is due to something else. Or it could be something like the rubbing described above, if your scratching helps to maintain or enhance your daydreaming it is probably MD related.

Sources: ED, CF, PL

ps; I pick at my thumbs too ;)

I just wanted to revisit this post because a new research paper on MD was just published.  The Comorbity of Daydreaming Disorder (Maladaptive Daydreaming) and it reports  “ a surprisingly high rate of excoriation (skin-picking) disorder (28.21%).”

Turns out this is more common than we suspected.

Dragon Age II has been met with a lot of criticism, and while I personally love this game a lot and it is my favourite of the series, I can admit it has certain weaknesses. Acknowledging and addressing those can provide valuable feedback for the developers and is an important duty of the fandom.

Today I want to talk about something that I’m sure we can all agree on is one of the game’s biggest flaws.

Unlike many other games released at about the same time Dragon Age II failed to make use of a common and dare I say essential element that is without doubt responsible for the generally much higher ranked entertainment value of its competitors.

You all know what I’m talking about, this incredible waste of potential we all struggle to accept to the current day.

I am, of course, talking about the lack of minigames.

Oh, what could have been. Let’s imagine, just for a moment. Imagine, how you could support your dear companions and strengthen your bond with them through these fun challenges.

You would…

…defend Anders’ clinic against hostile templars in “Saving the Sanctum”.

…help Merrill repair her mirror in “Eluvian Enigma”.

…and assist Fenris with decorating his home in “One Magnificent Mansion”.

Ah, indeed, what could have been.
