In complete seriousness, they need to make laws about ads that say they can take no more than one, maybe two, clicks/taps to close/skip. No more "wait 10 seconds until you can skip the video, wait 10 seconds until you can skip the fake playable ad, wait 5 seconds until you can close the 'download now' overlay, puts up a half-screen in-app appstore pop-up (which at least you can close immediately)." This should literally be illegal to do.

Edit: this is blowing up so I just wanted to add (haha ad) that this was my "reasonable request" I also think there should be way more and way stricter laws around all advertising in general. I think most advertising as we know it today should be abolished.

jokes aside, I've come to like twitter. Out of all the big social media platforms, it's the one where the playing field between TRAs and the mentally stable has been leveled the most. Obviously it's not perfect, and it really is chaotic af.

there are more gay characters on duolingo than the marvel cinematic universe

tumblr update where instead of seeing how many followers someone has it instead shows you a counter where it shows how long they've spent actively using the platform and then a percentile number showing what % they are in terms of viewed posts among all tumblr users.

there is also a spoon meter next to everybody's usernames except rather than setting your spoon level yourself it fluctuates randomly and if it gets too low people can't send you dms or asks and also your dash changes visually no matter what theme you have selected to have random scratch and bite marks over peoples posts as well as the occasional frog or patch of moss. there is also a little badge that either gives you the status of Valorous or Vile and that can also change over time but nobody is quite sure what metrics tumblr uses to assign it. and you can only follow people that match your alignment, unless you're vile then you can follow valorous people but it will not show your name in their following list or activity feed. also a small percentage of users (like, 0.5%) have a sword instead of spoons next to their username and people start remaking over and over trying to pull a sword account, and good url sword accounts actually become worth a bit because like a year after these changes tumblr stops giving out sword accounts.

i read the hobbit in 3rd grade and i thought it was really lame. however i liked bilbo baggins for some reason and i was fully convinced he was some sort of rabbit/mouse thing until i saw the lotr movies and was really, really confused

alright so during into the spider-verse's introduction to peter b. parker, we see his wedding, and he stomps on the wine glass right? this is a jewish wedding tradition, which makes this version of peter parker jewish (further confirmed in interviews -- however, i believe this is enough by itself). it's a nice nod to the jewish roots of the character.

we get to see a bunch of peter parkers throughout the spider-verse films, and none of them have any explicit religious associations like peter b. parker. except for one!

here we have gwen stacy's peter parker and aunt may, from earth-65, saying grace over a meal. from my understanding, this is generally a christian practice -- in judaism, we prefer to say short prayers before eating, and save the long, in-depth ones for afterwards. so to me, this was a clear example of the character being coded as christian. i was a little disappointed that they didn't make peter parker jewish here too, but since across the spider-verse discusses variants and the differences between instances of the same person between different universes, i interpreted this as a continued commentary on peter parker's ethnicity -- although he was initially jewish-coded and one of his two creators, stan lee, is jewish, this is often erased, especially in more modern interpretations of the character.

and then i remembered that this peter parker also literally turns into the lizard.

yeah yeah you’re all for disability rights but if someone is campaigning for adult changing tables in disabled stall bathrooms because they have incontinence and have to wear a diaper are you going to think they’re weird? if a person has a visible colostomy bag are you going to think it’s gross? what about feeding tubes? how does your opinion on these issues change if the person in question is fat, or homeless, or a person of color?
