"...and, it must be said, incredibly uncool" shinealightonme on the AO3 | white, bi, cis woman, Millennial | still can't believe I've devoted this much of my life to something called PYNCH

A lot of public places in Finland that needs signs for customers/clients/patients have them in finnish, swedish and english. I'm not quite fluent in swedish but read it passably, and I like the difference in the tone of the different languages. Like the english and swedish ones will be like "please be mindful of the other customers, be aware of the people around you. Thank you for being understanding <3" and the finnish one is like "PACK YOUR SHIT AND MOVE THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY, THERE ARE PEOPLE BEHIND YOU. YOU SLOW-ASS FUCK."

No offense but the internet gives you the most wrong and fucked up idea of helping people because people get mad if you don't care about disasters happening in 72 countries, meanwhile the people in real life that are doing the most good picked one VERY SPECIFIC thing to care about and care about it REALLY HARD

Walks up to a guy working on restoring a native tree species to his downtown "why aren't you posting about grasses in Turkmenistan!"

The internet has taken a whole generation of bright, motivated, passionate young people who care and have big hearts and turned them into paralyzed, shattered wrecks too crushed by the weight of the world's pain to hand a pair of socks to a person in need

its always "what are your plans for the future, you should really be planning for the future" and never "wow that character you're obsessed with sounds so cool can you explain them to me. im sure you get them more than anyone else"

[ID: A clip from a newspaper from 1908 reading “Sea Serpent Chases Vessel In Kindly Style” followed by “This monster is real amiable sort of freak, just keeping pace” and “Has very wide smile.”]

Had to do it.

[ID: The image from above, cropped and edited, so that it now reads “This user is real amiable sort of freak” instead of “This monster”.]
