I’m job-hunting while aboard the last month of this ship going down;
my roommate’s replacement tooth cracked due to stress and pressure so it has to be removed and replaced;
my boyfriend is hunting for somewhere to rent in the next month but every single one demands a $50-60 application fee before he can even schedule a time to look at them, and in some cases they take the fee but never call back. Pray for us, y’all.
An update: I’m still applying to places and waiting to hear back. My roommate’s tooth was able to be replaced much faster and much cheaper than we had anticipated; God be praised!!
However: this is the last week of school and it is a doozy; please pray that she makes it to Friday without cracking the replacement anew. My boyfriend has had his application to at least one rental accepted! He is waiting to hear back from another rental (in a neighborhood with more parks, businesses, and general community around), but, God willing, will be able to sign a lease this week or next, get more of his things packed, and start moving smaller items in advance of a formal Moving Day.

Need a piece of evidence? Phryne has it in her pocket!
Need to know about a suspect's finances? Phryne pops by the station with the information!
Need to arrest a guy and don't know where he is? Dot called, and Phryne has disarmed him, is sitting on his head, and waiting for the police to come get him.
As the audience, we see how Phryne gets these things done, but Jack can basically just sit at his desk with the file open and wait for Phryne to randomly hand him all the relevant evidence/information in a convenient narrative order.

you might have seen people talking about sudowrite and/or their tool storyengine recently
and just like… don’t. don’t do it. don’t try it out just to see what it’s about.
for two main reasons:
1) never feed anything proprietary into a large language model (LLM, eg ChatGPT, google bard, etc.).
this means don’t give it private company information when you’re at work, but also don’t give it your original writing. that’s your work.
because of the way these language models work, anything you feed into it is part of it now. and yeah, the FAQ says they “don’t claim ownership” over anything and yeah, they give you that reassuring bullshit about how unlikely it is that the exact same sentence will be reconstructed—
but that’s not the point.
do you have an unusual way of constructing sentences? a metaphor you like to use? a writing tic that sets you apart from the rest? anything that gives you a unique writing voice?
feed your writing into an LLM, and the model has your voice now. the model can generate text that sounds like it was written by you and someone else can claim it’s theirs because they gave the model a prompt.

2) the other reason is that sudowrite scraped a bunch of omegaverse fic without consent to build their model and that’s a really shitty thing to do, because it means people weren’t given the chance to choose whether or not to feed the model.
