guy viciously jerking off to something on his phone but you look and it’s just that days wordle
Vulcan things that I know are because of inconsistent writing but still tickle my brain from a worldbuilding perspective if I pretend it's intentional:
Spock (Spock’s World, Diane Duane)
a comic drawn by leslie ewing published in the program guide for the march on washington for lesbian gay and bi equal rights and liberation, april 1993
[ID: a comic with two lesbians. one, in a shirt that says “deaf ‘n’ dykey,” does an old sign for “lesbian.” the other, in a wheelchair, thinks “yess!!” end ID.]
additional context for the sign: this sign for “lesbian” is in the same place as “bad” or “wrong,” so it’s less politically correct today, and often reclaimed. think “lesbo” or “dyke”
thank you so much for this context!!
john waters is so me
like literally hes just like me
I went to joy and happiness world and all your friends were there and they asked about you and want you to come visit them because they love you
Extremely dangerous how "grooming" in the context of child sexual abuse went from being a very specific pattern of isolation and trust-building with the aim of abusing someone to "telling children anything that contradicts their parents' ultra-conservative worldview is grooming" to "selling rainbow flags in a store is grooming" to "literally anyone I don't like is a groomer".
These days the word seems to most often be used by people who don't care about what it actually means and just want an easy "this person is irredeemably evil, kill them now" button.
One of Spock's lesser talked about autistic traits is his tendency to sit in his room in the dark
I'm only just now realizing that the spacesuits from lwd with the gravity boots are based on the ones from the tos movies. Lwd has so much love for trek it's insane
Lower decks is star trek for people who like star trek. Like, *really* like star trek. People have criticized how much of the humor involves references to other series but it's also absolutely chock full of these little details and you can tell the creators put a lot of care and attention into it... it really expands on established trek rather than trying to redefine it and that's something I personally appreciate. As someone who likes star trek
Really even the premise itself of following lower ranking officers on a less important ship does a lot to flesh out how starfleet operates and how starships are run. But that's another post in itself
If lwd was live action I'm 100% convinced way more people would recognize it as the best new trek & it being animated is the only reason they don't I'm dead serious. & also the animation is really good. The medium lends itself very well to sci-fi & it continues to get better visually every season. Listen

Please imagine some warrior culture (e.g. Klingons) getting super into video game esports in a relatively war-less setting and just getting insane about it
Like everyone at first thinks "haha, they probably don't understand video games because they're a bunch of bloodthirsty brutes" and it's a fuckin Space Orc Sweep at the Space Esports Tournament. Orc Devin, a scrawny nerd of an orc, gets absolutely HOISTED by his yoked-to-the-nines parents who are just so proud that their weakest son is their most victorious warrior. His fighting is done with more finesse, battling with his hands, mind, and eyes instead of RIPPLING BICEPS and POWERFUL GUTS and BARREL-CRUSHING THIGHS, but he battles nonetheless. His space hometown honors him with his own sword and a plaque. They rent out a space billboard bragging about how Orc Devin kicked everyone's asses and was the Most Badass Motherfucker in this cool new digital warfare they are now starting to get probably too-into as a culture.
WHERE NATURE DID NOT FAVOUR HIM AT BIRTH, HE SOUGHT OUT BATTLE NONETHELESS.
CRUSHING NOT THE BODIES OF HIS OPPONENTS, BUT THEIR VERY MINDS AND SPIRITS.
LIMITED NOT BY THE REACH OF A SWORD, HIS CONQUESTS AND VICTORIES SPAN THE UNIVERSE.
A NOBLE WARRIOR INDEED.

Every so often I listen to hallelujah & "your faith was strong but you needed proof / you saw her bathing on the roof" makes me start chewing on drywall
Mulder and Scully are sitting in their car and they're both thinking "am I a lesbian" and neither of them will say it. Mulder stays in the egg zone because being a woman "seems like a lot of effort," failing to realize that trans women can be butch & Scully likes to pretend she's simply career driven with no time for a man. But there's still that inexplicable longing. Their weird little tension. X files is yuri to me
I want to stress that if Mulder ever transitioned she would look exactly the same. Mulder already looks like those 90s butches. You know.
[ID: photographs of K. D. Lang and Fox Mulder, respectively. They have the same haircut and face shape. They're sitting with similar posture, wearing light blue jeans, and a brown sweater/jacket over a light grey shirt. /end ID]
[ID: a reply from @ospreyonthemoon that reads, "I think mulder could transition whenever. Basically nothing changes except mulder is also her first name because she was like "hm. I should change my name. I don't want anyone calling me fox anyway so i might as well change it now i have a good excuse to." And then he's like "hm. I think i am just mulder really" so its just mulder mulder" /end ID]
Yeah you get it
i feel like people would take orientalism more seriously if they realized it’s not just about how it’s like “problematic” to draw link in that one outfit or whatever but is like a perception of asian societies and cultures that has very directly aided in the horrific atrocities of imperialism and colonialism and is still everywhere today. like it’s EVERYWHERE it’s in the stupid zelda video game it’s in your favorite sci-fi and fantasy franchises it’s in the way people discuss politics and culture and history and art. once you start seeing it you cant unsee it and i think if people started seeing it they would understand why it matters
All right, what's the opinion of the people allegedly affected by this?
Because, often, it happens that people make mountains out of molehills and forget to ask the people they think they're championing
i’m asian
Star Trek: Enterprise, episode 3x01: The Xindi.
[ID: Good Omens gifset. It shows Aziraphale driving in the yellow Bentley, as Crowley says, "My car is not yellow. It has never been yellow. It is not going to start being yellow now! Change it back!" It then cuts to a scene where Crowley isn't wearing his sunglasses, captioned "*has the most pretty yellow eyes*". It then cuts back again to Aziraphale replying, with a pouty face, "but it's pretty".
Following is a hashtag that reads, "this was so romantic of Aziraphale" in caps. End ID]
That long Worf Star Trek character analysis post I did at 3am last night was because I was reading about Russian jokes and almost everything I found, someone mentioned the same joke. So I spent like an hour trying to figure out the origin. And every source was like "This is THE oldest joke ever. Everyone's heard this joke before. It's a classic."
anyways the joke is
A bear walks through the forest, and sees a burning car. He sits inside it and burns.
