They were bad people, Caleb. They deserve to die. They tortured people. Who would do that. What kind of irredeemable person would do horrible things for the Empire. How would you even begin to justify that.

no!! this is missing the point!! jester and veth's unshakeable belief in ontologically, metaphysically, essentially good and bad people as discrete categories is one of their biggest blindspots and it is a MISTAKE. if you believe you are somehow inherently a good person then you never have to think critically about your actions or beliefs because you already know you are good!! and if you can dismiss people as always-already Bad then you never have to address the root causes or your own biases. caleb's whole backstory is about being someone who really and truly knows they are good, they know what bad guys look like, and, armed with that belief, can securely and happily serve a nationalistic project of incredible violence and extrajudicial murder

like I’m sorry if you’re disappointed that Ted is going back to Kansas but that was THE ONLY WAY this story could end. he only agreed to move across the world because his family life was falling apart and he thought some time away would save his relationship. and ted is not fucking stupid, he knows he won’t be able to effectively coach this sport he knows nothing about. he was probably thinking — optimistically, but this is ted we’re talking about — that he would coach for the rest of their season and give Michelle space and then go back home and they could work things out and be a family together again. five months living away from your kid is a VERY different story than nearly 3 years.

the show is about fatherhood and mentorship. ted wants to help mentor his players to be the best versions of themselves, but above all, he wants to be a good father. he’s fucking terrified of being a shit dad, it’s his greatest fear! and I’m sorry but he is not able to be the best dad he can be to henry the way things are, and this has been shown over and over again to be true and to be really distressing to him.

ted’s influence has left his mark on the team and roy and rebecca and the community (that last part has been really emphasized this season). richmond is in a good place, with people involved now who want to help the club succeed and have the skills/resources to do so (rebecca, higgins, keeley, roy, nate, the team). he’s helped them all grow as people and he’s grown as a person. he’s Mary Poppins, and he stayed until the wind changed — it’s changed!!!! he’s done his job, and he’s done it well, because they don’t need him anymore! which has been emphasized over and over this season! he’s been on his heroes journey and now he has to return home (changed). he has to find a new purpose and part of that purpose has to be being the best father he can be.

Flags Mashup Bot is really out here trying to start World War III

My fav part is that it is genuinely just a bot. All it does is take two countries, puts the 2nd country's colours on the 1st country's flag and mixes their names together.

Literally the only other thing behind it is that the bot weights picking the second country based on how close they are to the first, and basic geography + history means that's also where you're going to get the most aggressive relations. This isn't some guy trolling by making things specifically to piss people off, it's some guy who likes flags going "wouldn't it be fun to mix flags together, let's write a bot for that" and accidentally creating a whole meme culture of "days since flag mashup bot last tried to start WW3 = 0" and the like.

thinking about how so many parents who give their children to the jedi order did so because they want their kids to be raised safely, to have the care that their first family can’t give them, to be loved and understood by their peers and teachers and guardians; how much devotion and pain goes into that decision; and how that means so many jedi become part of the order due to the ultimate expression of love without possessive attachment

there is nothing more joyful than the thought that at the end of the series they stayed together and everything ended with a happy ending forever in my heart :(
