"where do you go when you go? are you on your way back home?" by Daniel Danger 12x36" 8 color screenprint. signed open edition. available here. 2015

this is the full size original clayboard etching for my Crimson Peak print for Guillermo Del Toro and Legendary Pictures. 18x36″ and easily 250+ hours of work on this alone. beginning to end, my crude sketches in the theater to sending the final separations this poster took me a month, and i couldnt be happier with it. i also couldnt have been more thrilled to work with the director himself on the project and been more thankful to a studio for understanding the best results are going to come from trust between them and us artists.

BECAUSE THIS IS USEFUL INFORMATION.

these excerpts are from Confederate vice president Alexander Stephens 'cornerstone' speech in 1861, delivered before the attack on Sumter as the start of the Civil War. the flag, of recent debate, was used as the "battle flag" for the Confederacy, who in their own formation speech, declare that the protection of slavery and the "superiority of the white race" was the "IMMEDIATE CAUSE" of the revolution and formation of the Confederate states.

SUMMED UP. the flag is the BATTLE FLAG of the following beliefs...

"The new constitution has put at rest, forever, all the agitating questions relating to our peculiar institution African slavery as it exists amongst us the proper status of the negro in our form of civilization. This was the immediate cause of the late rupture and present revolution. "

"Our new Government is founded upon exactly the opposite ideas; its foundations are laid, its cornerstone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery, subordination to the superior race, is his natural and normal condition."

... so sure, maybe the flag misguidedly represents your southern heritage. BUT IT WAS CREATED TO REPRESENT THIS SHIT. i mean, dont get me wrong, i watched the FUCK out of Dukes of Hazard growing up and wanted a general lee car as much as anyone. but then i grew up and Cosby raped a bunch of women and the world GOT REAL WEIRD. http://teachingamericanhistory.org/library/document/cornerstone-speech/

the ghosts as guests.

so lets all raise a toast to our pretty pretty host. her fingers crawl across the keys to please those who wouldn’t leave. so consider the ghosts as guests disease and all the rest and we could dance on the roofs like we were brand new and all the sheets in town would be in use. when the sun comes up we can make em all leave we could make em all leave we’ll wake to find the ears of our toast hanging on a telephone pole blowing in new england days just as white flags showing their age a white flag showing its age

so heres my dumb joke print i did for Mondo and their fans. its a knock on the iconic cover of Uncanny X-Men #141 from the early 80s (this one). in a dystopian future, the Sentinels control the united states, and have hunted mutants or placed them in camps or straight murdered them. kitty prydes mind is sent back in time to her younger self and she attempts to stop this horrible future from happening. lets assume internet message boards are Sentinels, and uh, Rob Jones is Wolverine. Mitch is DEF Kitty Pryde. draw your own parallel past this point. this is absolutely an idea i had at 4am in the morning if that wasnt painfully obvious, and enjoyed a few days of working wildly outside of my style. i made this for my art buddies and pals at mondo, but if youd like a copy CLICK HERE...

thrilled to work with Old Blood Noise Endeavors on their latest pedal, The Haunt. its a gated fuzz with a ton of tweakability, and i drew some badass wolves on it. its available on their site as i type. i've played in bands since i was 14 and fell in love with effects pedals pretty early on, and they and their history have remained a huge hyper-niche passion of mine. i treat them as their own instrument and love the endless fiddling and rearranging and the lunatic ideas engineers have come up with over the years on how to just absolutely make music crazier and crazier sounding. nowadays i have one of the largest collections in the world of vintage effects, spanning 50 years of the damn things, but this is the first ive had a hand in, so its extra special to me.
