4.Where do you find inspiration for new ideas?

i am definitely not saying that you should read the sword of truth series but i AM saying that it includes an entire sect of women who dress exclusively in skintight leather bodysuits and have Pain Rods that they use to make people do whatever they want. and also an entire book dedicated to the protagonist becoming a strangely-willing manservant for the hottest woman in the series. i think terry goodkind should have just written erotica and kept the weird randian ubermensch fantasy out of it is all

20 and 27?

my most favorite part is the planning process. i love planning and outlining and making the pieces fit together. my least favorite is when i know i have to get from point A to point B and its not satisfying enough to just write "they get from point A to point B". its so frustrating knowing exactly where you want to go but not wanting to fucking do it

i usually title things after theyre already written. its very rare that i get a good title in mind before everythings put on paper.....safdc is one of the rare exceptions to this

i like my titles to be short, sweet, and thematically relevant. (also im really prone to using scientific terminology.) what i usually do is jot down a bunch of potential titles and run them past my friends to see which ones fit the best. but this is like the least important part of the process so i dont spend a to. of time on it and i dont really get why ppl spend a ton of time + effort on titling things before theyve even started writing

(also one of my pet peeves is song lyric titles. ill die before i do this)

i take a lot of pride in my ability to immerse people in a setting......and just in my word choice in general. if nothing else you cant call me generic

the knife scene in coop game theory is my favorite thing in that fic. hands down. i love eroticism and metaphor and buddy . theres a metaphor there

my first step is usually dumping a bunch of ideas on somebody LOL.....stream of consciousness "hey wouldnt it be crazy if" type of things. then ill open up a document and elaborate on it.....youll find a lot of these kinds of drafts on my website. this is like the "filling in the blanks" stage

sometimes at this point ill divvy up scene ideas in scrivener into their own little subdocuments. usually this is for longform stuff that im breaking up into more manageable pieces......then i just gotta sit down and write that shit. splitting it up into scenes helps cuz if i get stuck on one part, i can jump around to other parts without getting lost

this is a really hard question to answer now bc ive largely stopped reading fic LOL......and also bc one of them is an anonymous author that, as far as i know, has only ever posted one thing on ao3. and its genderbent ford/bill cipher. Sorry

the first part to this is that, surprise surprise, i am still writing fics. (ive got an AI benrey/streamer gordon one that ive been chipping away at.)

the second part is.....its just that im really really particular. i like what i like and its very rare that i find stuff that scratches that itch so i gotta scratch it myself. i like eroticism and i like tension and i like things that sound like they belong in the universe their fandom comes from and im also insanely picky about formatting and word choice and so on and so on. so tl;dr nobodys gonna write em the way i want except me, so i gotta sack up and do it myself

2. Do you plan each chapter ahead or write as you go?

im a huge planner. planning is essential if u want something that makes sense logically and thematically......and boy am i crazy about those themes. motifs, even. scrivener is great for this bc you can just jot down a million scene ideas onto index cards and sort them all out on da computer

(i have a little moleskine notebook ive taken to using too. its nice but my train of thought for ideas is all over the place so its really disorganized.)

Read through the entirety of the zombie apocalypse au thingy for safdc at 4 am and holy shit man. Phenomenal stuff, I am in love with the characterisation and dynamic between Jamie and Daniel. It is absolutely wonderful and I may just re-read it again tonight <3

kicks my feet......thank u : ) its been really fun both exploring their relationship thru RP and getting to put my own touches on it in post......striking that balance of "they really do like each other b/c of the things they DONT have in common, and they envy those qualities" and "they cannot fucking stand each other and wish the other was more like them" has been interesting. good practice for the 'real deal'......at first jamie was wayyyy too bitchy and mean and i had them getting into massive blowout fights like, every chapter. but thats exhausting and doesnt give them a lot of room to grow into each other. so jamies a little more conciliatory.
