Click here to get firefox, and once you install it, firefox will ask if you want to import all of your logins, bookmarks and settings from Chrome or whatever else you browsed with. Then go here to add firefox’s best adblocker: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/

Please do not use AdBlock Plus, they sold out years ago and allowed advertisers to "whitelist" certain ads.

uBlock Origin is the correct "best adblocker"

However, there is also AdNauseam which is built atop uBlock and will silently click on every ad it blocks so you can fuck with advertising companies. Essentially, this poisons whatever information profile they've built up on you. AdNauseam was even banned on the Google Web Store in 2017, so you can tell it works and that Google fucking HATES IT.

You should be angry, you should demand change, you are completely correct to be angry about how you are denied access to a livable and cheaper life because your representatives, local government and Senators sold you out to the automobile lobby. We need to fight to change our cities for the better and you can't fight without any anger.

as my own direct immediate list of game grievances i hate that stardew valley expects you to side against a wheelchair user who is upset that he was moved without his consent. i hate that the mass effect trilogy gives you visible scarring as a direct result of choosing mean dialogue and heals it if you're nice. i hate that the vampire the masquerade ttrpg has a monstrous player class that can appear as horrible vampiric monsters or as visibly disabled people and both of these appearances are mechanically the same. i hate that dark souls games have a difficulty level implemented in a way that cannot be adjusted for disability. i hate that i can play as a mermaid or a werewolf or a horse in the sims games but can't use a wheelchair. i hate that the ace attorney games have so much flashing and not all of the games can disable it. i hate that disability is constantly something that happens to teach a lesson, i hate that disability is something that happens as a punishment, i hate that disability is either compensated perfectly with no drawbacks or something that is endlessly sought to be cured. i hate that no character customization will ever include the mobility aids i use, that the player avatars that represent me will never look like me. i am so goddamn annoyed and so goddamn tired.

the way age is such a complicated theme for the prodigy cast. sure you can look up the characters’ ages in a promotional bio but that really does not encompass the whole story. there’s the energy being that does not physically age and even though aaron waltke confirmed that zero is the medusan equivalent of a juvenile, their experience of maturity is probably extremely different from that of an organic species. then we have jankom pog who we can age chronologically as somewhere around 400 due to having been displaced in time from being on a pre-warp sleeper ship and is voiced by an adult who really contrasts with the other actors’ voices and performances but biologically? teenager! and of course we can’t forget how rok spent probably at least one year in suspension if not more all alone teaching herself complicated university topics for the chance to save herself and her friends from dying horribly in space so like, is she still eight? does she still feel eight? that’s not even going into how in the flashback moment where we see the diviner clone himself into gwyn, she’s created from the start into a young woman. that may have been an artistic representation of the process but it’s still entirely possible that the process of her maturity was very different from a naturally born vau n’akat

and really, exact age of all these characters is the least important thing, even if they weren’t subject to all these question marks over their life because they’ve never been children in their lives. they were all exploited from such a young age, except maybe zero, and they’ve prematurely learned what it’s like to only be able to trust yourself in your own future and that makes them so, so old and yet so, so young.

The stark difference in maturity between Dal and Gwyn is a good example, even though they’re the same age.

Gwyn was forced by her critical and demanding father to mature far too soon and be perfect at everything. While Dal’s maturity was stunted by someone who neglected him, then abandoned him to abuse and social isolation at a young age.

As a result, Gwyn gives him an ideal to live up to, and Dal gives her the freedom to embrace her lost childhood.

The underlying differences between all these characters’ circumstances are what gives their relationships a complexity and depth you’d never expect at first glance at their appearance and ages.

actually lemme pull on this string for a second even though i’m gonna go on a tangent different to the main point of this meta post, but there’s something very interesting in the way dal and gwyn are written, this dynamic you introduce where gwyn’s the upright, overqualified supergirl and dal’s the irresponsible manchild.

most examples of this trope make me want to vomit, because the girl’s superhuman talent and command all come to nothing because she’s just there to be the boy’s babysitter, and the boy’s reckless immaturity is supposed to be this relatable quality instead of a pretty annoying and deep character flaw that would alienate everyone irl.

but then in prodigy these stock character archetypes are examined and stripped of the misogyny that actually defines them. this is mostly done by actually showing how dal’s recklessness sucks and makes him deeply unpopular even among the other runaways because he’s dangerous and that recklessness can be straight up antisocial, and the story instead makes him grow as a character. but at the same time the free-spirited nature at the root of all that immaturity does offer gwyn a spark of true joy and a return to a childhood she never had where mistakes could be made and your imagination is your only limit.

similarly, gwyn’s uptight supergirl qualities are deconstructed pretty hard by showing that despite the fact that her competence and drive to use her skills is admirable, those things came out through horrendous abuse and those abilities won’t save her if the wounds from all that abuse undermine her to the point of breaking down and hugging her pet in the face of danger after all her carefully laid plans crash down around her. she deserves to heal those wounds with adult self-compassion, but also with childish hope that next time it will be better. which is one of dal’s best qualities, at the end of the day.

For Day 7 of #30DaysOfProdigy - 'Alien' - Dal being a completely new thing is amazing, and Star Trek is better off for it. If ANYONE on the crew would have that cool 'eye-shine' thing, it's going to be him.

did everyone just forget the time tumblr went scorched earth on a blog for making fun of a staff member for being an hp fan

Day 5 of Demanding Paramount Restore Prodigy

Back on the grind and yeah I’m late again but OH MY GOD THIS ONE TOOK SO LONG. If I thought Dal’s design was complicated, Gwyn came and stabbed my hand with her heirloom sword. Her hair tendril things and all the metal she wears made this one a challenge.

Admittedly I went a little overboard with the details, but I wanted to make her look good. And yes, I used one of the promo images as a reference, BUT LOOK HOW GOOD SHE LOOKS! I’m actually really proud of how she came out. She’s not perfect, but I think she looks better than Dal.

As the only character with a weapon, you bet she’s getting ready to use it on you, Paramount. Her people need her and she’s not gonna let anyone get in her way.

"Maybe the reason trans women's posts are getting marked as 18+ even after getting reviewed is because the review process is getting outsourced to other countries where they're poorly trained and have different standards" yeah sure. I suppose you think Disney doesn't make movies with gay people to appease markets in China too. Get fucking real.

Why is it so hard for people to acknowledge the possibility that staff might just have a bigotry problem

doES ANYONE ELSE REALIZE THAT WE’RE LIKE, THE FIRST GENERATION ON TUMBLR

GIVE IT 10-15 YEARS AND WE’LL ALL BE GROWN UP AND AN ENTIRE NEW SET OF KIDS WILL BE ON HERE BLOGGING ABOUT COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SHOWS AND BANDS AND MOVIES AND BOOKS
