#ACAB now. ACAB forever.
Defund the police. Communities can police themselves with the resources.
This headline is wild to think about. Could you imagine your field of work being labeled the leading cause of death in the entire fucking country and not having to worry about being unemployed by weeks end? I doubt any pig who reads this is even remotely worried about their job. It's fucking insane.
They’re also shooting for 100% renewable plastic sources by 2030! All of the soft plant/leaf elements in sets right now and going forward are made out of bioplastic made from sugarcane, and they’re working on getting the regular hard plastic bricks out of that, too.
They’ve done it, actually! The full bricks are in the prototype stage now, and are expected to be 100% biodegradable without the need for a commercial compost facility. It’s very cool. Right now they’re testing the durability and playability of the bricks and seeing what needs to be revised/reworked on their final model.
So its that easy huh
Of course it is
Actually, this isn’t “easy” and is huge news. You see, Lego is absolutely meticulous about their quality control. Their standards for manufacturing are stupidly high, as are their safety requirements. You know that distinctive “click” when you pop two Lego bricks apart? They engineered that. That sound is so distinctive that it can be used to tell genuine Lego bricks from counterfeits and it’s a sound that would be based on shape and material.
Furthermore, one of the hard requirements for a Lego brick is that it must be compatible with any other Lego brick. If I buy a set today and pull a set from the 1980s? Those bricks would fit together perfectly. This requires a huge amount of precision engineering and controls on manufacturing quality. (I can’t remember the source, but I’ve at least heard that once the brick molds wear to a certain point, they’re pulled from the line and either melted down or turned into construction material for Lego HQ. Point being, no one is getting their hands on a worn Lego mold)
Recycled and non-petroleum plastics are different from other plastic. The chemistry is different. The timing and process to use them is different. This has been a reason why more companies haven’t moved to them, because there’s a drop in quality for material (so they claim).
What Lego just did is completely obliterate that argument. The corporation with some of the strictest quality control requirements for plastic just kicked the basic foundation of the “bad quality” argument out from under it, because if they feel confident enough to guarantee the same experience as using a brick from over 40 years ago, if they are confident enough that they can meet their own metrics at a huge industrial scale….
Nobody else has any excuse.
Y'know what you call a Tempest domain cleric?
an air friar
Oh no one in your party resists lightning and thunder damage? Clearly you don't own an air friar.
In a statement to The Post, a spokesperson for NBCUniversal claimed the tree work is simply an annual ritual at this time of year. “We understand that the safety tree trimming of the Ficus trees we did on Barham Blvd. has created unintended challenges for demonstrators, that was not our intention. In partnership with licensed arborists, we have pruned these trees annually at this time of year to ensure that the canopies are light ahead of the high wind season,” they wrote. “We support the WGA and SAG’s right to demonstrate and are working to provide some shade coverage. We continue to openly communicate with the labor leaders on-site to work together during this time.”
If those trees were pollarded annually, the cut areas would NOT look like that. There would be big knobs of old growth at the trimming sites. Not seeing any of that here. The way those trees were topped (not pollarded, which is a very careful process that has to begin when the tree is immature) is excellent way to kill them due to loss of hydration, open sites to infection and parasitism during the best time of year for both, lack of nutrition due to so little greenery and new budding growth being left, sunburn and other exposure damage, and a myriad of other possibilities. Plus, if they were topped annually, they would not have the lovely drooping branches seen in the other picture but would have tons of vertical suckers instead.
This is what an annually pollarded mature tree should look like:
If this was done by the city, the public works arborists should be protesting in front of city hall and screaming their heads off right now. I'm not hearing about that, so... Tree law!
The Studios: *speak*
Botanists and other Tree Experts:
My mom said when she used to go to business meetings at GM in Detroit in the 1980’s, they would close the sidewalks to “repave” them whenever the unions were preparing to strike, making it more difficult or impossible for them to protest outside. This is a thing, this has been happening for decades. They know what they’re doing.
LAPD detonated 5000 lbs of fireworks in the middle of a residential area, injuring at least 17 people and causing $900 million in various damages in a low-income, majority-POC neighborhood.
They then continue to pursue caging the person whose fireworks they stole while news media misreports to cover for police incompetency and destruction.
It took TWO YEARS to get the names of those involved with this incident. There are people still protesting, still living in hotels, still with unfulfilled claims to the city from this shit
[image id: typography art using text from Trans Fag Rag. across the top of the photo in all caps in a typerwriter black font it reads 'liberating my inner fag:' followed with '...a transgendered fag. Yeah. That fit.' in similar but bolder italicized font aligned to the right of the photo. End id]
man the site that used to be full of people horny for the onceler now getting really hyped about tree law is some serious poetic irony
Enjoy a drink on one of my special coasters. Yea I custom made them (the coasters) to be so light the drinks condensation makes em stick to the bottom of your glass, but still heavy enough that when it (the coaster) finally clatters to the ground it's loud as fuck and shatters your nerves and makes you spill your drink everywhere. Why am I doing this? Well, it's a sex thing for me
“why would we make plans in front of you if you weren’t invited?” babe i was left out of everything growing up, i need 100% confirmation you want me there or i simply will not go
I think one of the reasons why tree law is so popular and people are so enthusiastic about it is because a big, old tree being killed feels so awful. You've got something that took years or decades to get that big, that provides so many benefits, and then it's just...gone and irreplaceable. Of course people are like oh boy, you didn't think that thing was valuable and now the law is gonna come for you and you're gonna regret it.
And it feels like one of the few cases where the rich (not the mega rich, but the regular rich) actually get held to account for their crimes, because the punishment is designed to match the actual damage they do. You cut down a bunch of your neighbor's trees to make your property more valuable? The punishment is basically the cost of your property.
i love seeing oppenheimer discourse on this website revolving around how the movie is going to ‘glorify the atomic bomb’ or ‘celebrate war writ large’ bc it honestly makes me think people know literally nothing about who oppenheimer was, what he came to believe, or what happened to him. but go off i guess
like look not to self reblog here but this is the story of a german jewish man with family and friends he’d helped escape nazi germany, who had known heisenberg personally and held him in deep scientific respect, who believed under heisenberg’s leadership that the nazis would develop the bomb first and who also believed in his heart of hearts that such a thing could never happen. this was a man whose life was destroyed after he came to believe nuclear weapons were genocidal, who died after being publicly discredited and humiliated for his very open opposition to arms race and development the hydrogen bomb, and who literally told truman to his face, “mr. president, i feel i have blood on my hands.” anyway if told truthfully it’s an anti-atomic bomb story if there ever was one and it’s a hill i’ll die on.
Is that a fish in your pocket or is uyor penis wrigglinh and writhing frantically in the hopesof returning to the sea
Blocking this doily was an experience! It took a little over three hours and a bit of my sanity. I’ve told myself I’ll never do this again, but I feel as if that might be a lie..
Photos of the doily are of it while being blocked. I totally forgot to get any pics after I took all the pins out. The finished size was 51 inches in diameter.
I’m sensing there’s some damianjasonbrucesteph bullshit happening in the bat-cave.

The main thing i hate about dc forcing in a bunch of new biological children as legacies/the second gen is that i feel its saying something about the previous legacies. Characters who weren’t biologically related to their mentors sure but still have JUST AS MUCH a right to that title.
its just really off putting to me, like its saying the previous characters didnt really count as successors just because they weren’t biologically related. Like these new characters are the “real” legacies because of their dna
