No More Paper Towels

My craft goal for this holiday break was to make myself a set of multi-use kitchen towels to replace paper towels. I picked up some birds-eye cotton for the backing because it’s very durable and absorbent, and basic cotton prints for the fronts.

To make them, I cut the fabric to 8” x 11” pieces and did a simple quarter-inch seam with right sides in. Leaving a 3 inch gap, I turned them right sides out, and top stitched all the way around with about an eighth inch seam.

I’ve seen similar products where people attached snaps to all four corners and painstakingly attached them to a paper towel roll, but that seems tedious to me. Luckily, my sewing machine has pre-programmed buttonhole stitches, so I added a large buttonhole to each one and hung them up on a hook to save counter space.

I love how they turned out!
