it's beautiful in the way that certain math calculations are beautiful. i really really don't want to give compliments to the shitheads that add gormless features to this fucking nightmare of a website, but i think this is one of the best and most-tumblr features added relatively recently. this is how tumblr works, and how it should operate
if they start putting an algorithm into this site, we're going to lose this beautiful display of points of data. every single point is someone on this barely-held-together website clicking that funny little arrow button to show it to other people directly. this is such a fascinating thing to witness, and i didn't even manage to get half of the reblogs in this dinky little screenshot. it's gonna be a shame if this feature is fucked with, because this is representation for the kind of internet i want to see on this site

one thing that seriously irks me abt the carlee russell case is how badly people don’t wanna believe her and jump to the conclusion that she’s lying for whatever reason. everyone would do so much mental gymnastics to justify and believe a white woman bc missing white woman syndrome but the fact that the story is a little confusing or doesn’t make sense and everyone immediately jumps to the fact that she’s crazy and wants attention. even if it comes out she is lying id rather have supported her than it come out that she’s telling the truth and i didn’t believe her or worry. idc if it’s a reach or if some ppl don’t have racist motives behind it it needs to be addressed how terribly some ppl treat black women and don’t even see it. i rlly hope she is well.
j saw a tiktok abt a press conference for this case and ig she is lying and everyone is all “told you so” like ihhh what abt the countless black women who DO go missing on a daily basis that this is gonna affect?? people believe yt women r being snatched from target for sec trafficking n people are already skeptical of the scary reality of being a black woman (esp black trans woman) so this’ll definitely be detrimental for how seriously people take real cases like this
If I can recommend you do 1 low-effort thing for the love of God it is this:
Keep 5 cards in your pocket. One will say "yes", the second will say "no."
