why does this sound like it came from a repressed gay war poem
in a lot of shows the found family splitting up is an unsatisfying ending to their characters, but the writers make them go their seperate ways regardless.
in dhmis the found family would really like to go their seperate ways, but the "creator" keeps forcing them to stay together in the end.
palpatine straight up told anakin he was a sith lord and anakin was like well. this is a lot to process so im going to go fetch my boss and we’ll come back in about half an hour and murder you so don’t go anywhere and palpatine didn’t you have to admire the man
palpatine is the best villain of all time bc he's the classic master manipulator who pits his enemies against each other without lifting a finger by preying on their weaknesses but normally those types of villains have the caveat that once their bullshit get exposed it's a simple matter of slapping handcuffs on them bc they're like weak old CEOs or whatever
but our boy sheev? when his plans don't go perfectly he's just like oh well and starts zapping fuckers to death bc he's also the most powerful old prune in the galaxy and he could just kill everyone around him if he gets bored

im rewatching some old avgn episodes rn and this part consistently makes me lose my shit no matter how many times i see it
some people have been creating extensive backstories for inscryption characters (mainly the scrybes) that minimise the meta narrative and take advantage of the fantasy setting of the game itself, giving the characters more depth, and while they’re impressive and fun to think about, i’d like to propose something:
this kind of backstory being directly written into the characters, meaning they never happened, but the characters “remember” those stories as if they have actually experienced them themselves. they rely on the memories to modify their personality, actions and build relationships with other characters.
maybe, at one point, all of the scrybes are really good friends, or are in a polycule, whatever your headcanons are.
either way, this would take a drastic change when the old_data takes effect. they realise the memories are man-made. artificial. fake.
suddenly, all of the memories don’t matter anymore. certain life-changing events that have led them to this point are merely scripted. perhaps they would’ve done differently on certain things if they’d actually happened. they begin reconsidering every aspect of their life, including their relationships.
which leads them to the current day inscryption.
first of all, yes, even if you don’t want to play The Hex, go watch a playthrough of it, skip past the gameplay for the overarching lore if you really could care less about the characters. there aren’t any from famous youtubers, but hey, that’s why it’s underrated.
secondly, here’s the thing: we can’t be completely sure the old_data doesn’t have anything to do with giving sentience, considering the game manipulating nature of it.
